Job Duties
The Document Management Technician will perform the following tasks:
a) Receive criminal case files or other materials from attorneys and legal support staff and organize documents in alphabetical, numerical, or chronological order as needed.
b) Use knowledge of the legal process and legal terms to analyze the content of legal documents and determine the status of investigative or court proceedings; recognize documents that are missing; and work with attorneys, paralegals, and legal assistants to obtain and organize documents for filing.
c) Locate case materials based on working knowledge of paper and electronic filing systems maintained by USAO and the Court.
d) Review, organize, update, and purge criminal case files in accordance with established file-purging guidelines, and prepare case files for close-out process and archiving.

The Document Management Technician must possess the following qualifications and background:
a) High school diploma or Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
b) Computer Skills: Ability to search electronic case management systems and databases (including PACER and CaseView) to locate case information and court filings.
c) Communication Skills: Ability to communicate effectively (in writing and orally, as needed) with attorneys, Court personnel, external government agencies, and other individuals with information relevant to performing the duties outlined above.
d) Professionalism: Excellent organizational skills, strong attention to detail, and ability to work and interact professionally with attorneys and legal support staff, meet established deadlines, and work in a high-volume litigation environment. Preference for individuals with knowledge of and experience with criminal litigation policies and procedures for the Department of Justice.
