Duties:

This position is in support of process-based projects and initiatives in support of both Restoration Management and the Enterprise Project Management Office (EPMO).

The Process Project Manager will:

 

  • Plan and manage medium-to-large sized projects of moderate-to high complexity

 

  • Ensure project results delivery and align with corporate goals

 

  • Meet agreed upon scope, cost, schedule and quality objectives

 

  • Develop and maintain project plans that provide timely deliverables in order to achieve project objectives

 

  • Identify initial risks, issues and constraints impacting project execution

 

  • Work collaboratively with other functional areas in the development of project tasks and deliverables ensuring the successful execution of projects

 

  • Manage multiple projects at various stages of development concurrently

 

  • Facilitate the flow of work during a project to ensure that it conforms to the project plan covering forecasting, scoping, planning, scheduling, execution and closeout

 

  • Ensure that team members understand their authority and responsibility regarding their portion of the project

 

  • Assume project communication lead role throughout the life of the project

 

  • Validate financial forecasts and provides on-going reconciliation of resources and other related project expenditures
  • Support EPMO process initiatives to develop process standards and best practices for Enterprise Project Management projects and for corporate process improvement and transformation projects
  • Develop EPMO standards documentation for assigned areas of responsibility, ensuring compliance with Consumers Energy Document Lifecycle Management (DLM) standards
  • Work with EPMO Process & Governance staff to adapt EPMO Project Lifecycle and Governance for process improvement and transformation projects
  • Utilize industry best practices on project methodologies, technologies and EMPO effectiveness to identify specific improvements to the EPMO Project Lifecycle Process
  • Work with EPMO to evaluate, prioritize, and implement process and governance improvements
  • Establish methods to assess project compliance with EPMO process standards

 

NOTE: This is not an IT PMO position.

Skills:

The selected candidate must have:

 

 

 

  • Significant project experience with demonstrated capability to lead small to large scale projects, preferably in the industry
  • Expertise in process improvement and process-based projects including the ability to facilitate a mixed group of stakeholders to identify process requirements and drive to consensus on process improvements or standards
  • Significant risk management and mitigation experience is necessary to recognize potential issues and recommend corrective actions for success

 

  • Technical writing expertise for the development of process, work instructions, job aids, and other related project or EPMO documentation

 

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to make effective presentations and communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders

 

  • A proven ability to work across departments collaboratively to resolve issues, drive projects to closure, achieve desired results/goals, and/or implement change as needed

 

  • A proven ability to quickly earn the trust of sponsors and key stakeholders; mobilize and motivate teams; set direction and approach; resolve conflict; deliver tough messages with grace; execute with limited information and ambiguity
  • Ideally, 10+ years of related experience

  • A Bachelor of Science in engineering, business, or similar from an accredited college or university
  • PMI Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent
