Period of performance 120 days with an option to extend for another 120 days.
Working Hours Work is to be performed any two days of the work week (Monday through Friday). Employee will work 16 hours per week. Employee may choose which two days to perform duties.
US Citizen Mandatory
Security Clearance Federal experience is preferred.

Job Duties
  1. Update facility drawings reflecting as-built (existing) conditions. Coordinate and discuss with engineers, linemen, electricians, draftsmen, and management for correctness of facility drawings. Make necessary revisions on the drawings and provided to draftsperson to correct. Review the drawings for accuracy. Archive completed as-built drawings in accordance with Upper Great Plains (UGP) guidelines.
  2. Provide support in technical studies, review of engineering data associated with on-going projects, draft technical correspondence, specification development, and performing engineering analysis.
  3. Travel to Western Area Power Administration (WAPA) offices, facilities, substations, and communication sites.
  4. Review engineering data for up-to-date information to meet current standards.
  5. Review fiscal year heavy equipment purchases and coordinate with the South Dakota Maintenance Office (SDMO) staff and procurement to develop equipment specifications and procurement action.
  6. Reviews all submitted house moves for route accuracy and impacts to Western facilities. Coordinates with line foreman, house mover, and dispatch on any Hot Line Orders (HLO's), outages, and estimated costs.
  7. Recommend designs, based on Western criteria and engineering practices. Reviews and recommends facility improvements on transmission line re-routes as they relate to substation rebuilds or new substation facilities.
  8. Reviews project requirements and prepares material list and initiates procurement action to obtain all material needed.

2. Qualifications
  1. Minimum 30+ years of experience in electrical industry.
  2. Must possess an Electrical Engineering degree.
  3. Must possess a valid drivers' license.

3. Transportation
  1. Employee will be provided a government vehicle for use when traveling to field sites.
  2. Personal protective equipment will be provided as needed.
