IT Technician for Education Technology and User Services in Information Services and Technology

Job Description:
This temporary position will provide technical support for Academic Computing Services within
the Information Services Division primarily through installing and configuring IT hardware and
software on new and existing workstations to university standards.
Duties Include:
Image and prepare computers to university standards and documented procedures and policies; arrange for installation of computers with clients; maintain lists and databases of computers received, deployed, returned and other paperwork for record keeping; inventory management duties maintaining records of current inventory, replenishing revolving inventory with incoming equipment, monitoring inventory thresholds, and notifying management of inventory issues in a timely manner; provide telephone support for the university IT helpdesk; troubleshooting and resolving hardware and software issues; and other responsibilities related to the operations of the Information Services Division. The ideal candidate must be able to bend, push, pull, stoop, climb, stand (up to 8 hours) and lift up to 40 lbs. frequently.
Qualification and Minimum Experience
An Associates' Degree in Microcomputer Technology; or other closely related field; or two (2) years of experience providing microcomputer and Media support to include information technology hardware and software installation, operation and maintenance; or any equivalent combination of experience and training. Experience and/or training must have been obtained within the last three years in order to meet the requirements.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  1. Knowledge of the process of installing and configuring cable
  2. Knowledge of the use and interpretation of diagnostic utility programs in troubleshooting
  3. problems
  4. Ability to read, comprehend and interpret technical manual and procedure
  5. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
  6. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
  7. Experience with video editing software

Work Hours and Hourly Rate
  • The Position to last approximately 8 months. Hours would be Monday through Friday 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM EST.
