Mechanical Engineer - Senior

The Senior Mechanical Engineer will perform the mechanical design and development of tactical shelters, and Communications On-The-Move (COTM) systems (Mobile/Deployable Client (M/DAOC) used in austere military environments. This position requires travel to Middle East and within the USA. Depending on the project phase and requirements, you may be required to work hours and days corresponding to this Middle East customer's work schedule. The successful candidate must have experience with design tools like SolidWorks and hands-on experience with installation. Additional tasks and/or requirements include:
  1. Developing designs and supporting drawing/documentation of tactical shelters/Enclosures
  2. Understanding of the complete range of product drawings used for specification, fabrication, assembly, wiring, inspection, and installation of equipment
  3. Ability to apply pertinent military, and industrial design and drawing standards as necessary
  4. Research, plan, design, develop and document mechanical parts, assemblies, and systems to meet requirements
  5. Modeling of COTS components in 3D design software, developing an approach for mounting those components, and creation of the related data package
  6. Knowledge of component level environmental testing, Environmental test experience – Vibration, Shock Tests, Thermal, Humidity, Motion, Dust and Water Protection, etc.
  7. Support fabrication, testing and installation of COTS and ruggedized equipment into shelters and mobile assets
  8. Develop and maintain design Bills of Material -Successful candidate must be a self-starter, working under minimal guidance, and be creative in seeking solutions to various technical challenges on the program.
Required Skills:

The candidate must have the following experience/skills in Tactical Network systems:
5-10 years of ME experience
  1. 5+ years using SolidWorks modeling software
  2. Ability to generate component and assembly level drawings to document designs
  3. Understand and apply drawing dimensioning and tolerance standards IAW ASME Y14.5
  4. Proficiency with PC based MS Office products
  5. Mechanical Engineering design and development with experience in systems like tactical shelters (Mobile/Deployable Client (M/DAOC), and Communications On-The-Move (COTM) used in austere military environments
  6. Must have experience with installation and field work
  7. Must be a self-starter, working under minimal guidance, and be creative in seeking solutions to various technical challenges.

Desired Skills:
  1. Proposal and working knowledge of Tactical Network systems
  2. Wind load calculations for elevated mast and antenna systems
  3. Testing of hardware and systems to MIL-STD-810
  4. Hardware document control experience
  5. Electrical Engineering like power analysis, power and signal cabling, etc.
The plan is to have a one or two trips of a duration of couple of months each to the Middle East.

The following summarizes the expected level of performance for subcontractor personnel:
a) Proven experience in working in integrated product team environments. They will work in an environment with a single focus on accomplishing immediate, near term, and longer term program objectives.
b) Must operate in a dynamic environment and be capable of working collaboratively with other professionals and UAE personnel to achieve program requirements.
c) Must demonstrate an ability to prioritize work on multiple tasks and accomplish all work within program schedule and budget constraints.
d) Seller personnel will routinely be supervised by persons other than from the Seller’s organization.
e) May be required to work days and hours that correspond with our UAE customer’s work schedule. Shift differential will not be paid.

As permitted by applicable labor laws and regulations, Overtime will be paid at straight time after 45 hours worked upon receipt of approval from the Buyer’s Subcontract Administrator.
