Network/ Systems Engineer to work on the Automated Flight Service Station (AFSS)project providing pre-flight, in-flight, and administrative information services to support flight operations in the United States, Hawaii, and Puerto Rico.
This position will be responsible for any/all of the following:
  • Design, implement and operate the configuration and installation lifecycle of ntwork and firewall nodes to securely transport critical data
  • Conduct local and remote troubleshooting and maintenance of communication networks
  • Provide network operations support for all network components
    • Cisco Routers, Firewalls and Switches
    • Juniper Firewalls
    • F5 Network Equipment
    • SolarWinds Network Monitoring Tools
  • Work as part of a larger team of Subject Matter Experts working in the Network and Security Operations Center to affect repairs to all automation equipment within the facility.
  • Support remote facilities as the needs arise, travel may be required and will be funded by the AFSS Program
  • Responsible for problem resolution and diagnosis of all in-facility network communications
The Network/ Systems Engineer shall also perform integration of the components of the AFSS system and participate in the conduct of informal and formal testing of the AFSS system. The integration and testing of the AFSS system may include the preparation of test documentation, the development of test cases and test scenarios, the development of test tools and aids, execution of tests and documenting test results.

This work will be performed under a single labor category, Systems Engineering Support, and the subcontractor personnel shall possess:
  • Must have Cisco CCNA
  • Desired Cisco CCNP
  • Desired Cisco CCIE, Cisco CCDE
  • Desired F5 Certified Solution Expert
  • Desired F5 LTM, GTM, ASM Specialist
  • Plus Certifications are Red Hat Linux
  • Proven work experience supporting large network environments and skill sets that encompass multiple technologies
  • Solarwinds Network Management Tools: Performance Monitoring, Configuration Management
  • Network Component implementation & Support
  • Knowledge of implementing & Support large corporate domain environments.
  • Intrusion detection & Virus Protection implementations
  • Knowledge of Service Provider equipment, interface points, testing technologies, and the ability to interface with corporate support organization to affect problem resolution.
This labor category has three levels as defined below.
  • Level 2 – Required Education and Experience -- Career level typically with an advanced degree and 3+ years experience or bachelors with 5+ years experience or equivalent; wide application of principles, theories, and concepts in their field and provides solutions to a wide range of difficult problems with imaginative and thorough solutions; works under general direction, and results are reviewed upon completion for adequacy in meeting objectives; failure to achieve results normally results in serious program delays and considerable expenditure of resources; frequent internal and external customer contacts and represents the organization in providing solutions to difficult technical issues associated with specific projects.
  • Level 3 – Required Education and Experience -- Emerging authority typically with an advanced degree and 7+ years experience or bachelors with 9+ years experience or equivalent; applies extensive expertise; solves complex problems that require the regular use of ingenuity and creativity; work is performed without appreciable direction and is reviewed for desired results from a relatively long time perspective; erroneous decisions would normally result in failure to achieve major organizational objectives; may function in project leadership roles and represents the organization as prime customer contact on significant technical matters on contracts.
  • Level 4 – Required Education and Experience -- Expert, authority in discipline typically with an advanced degree and 12+ years experience or bachelors with 14+ years experience or equivalent; applies advanced concepts, theories, and principles and contributes toward the development of new principles and concepts; works unusually complex problems with consultative direction; erroneous decisions would normally result in failure to achieve goals critical to major organizational objectives and damage the image of the organization's technological capability; advises top management and customers on advanced technical research studies and applications; managerial/leadership experience or necessary skills.
