Senior Full Stack Software Engineer II

Our client has been on the forefront of Social Emotional Learning (SEL) curriculum used by millions of students each year. Research-based programs like their product have been shown to improve students' academic performance significantly.

This company is growing, and we're looking for a Full Stack Software Engineer to join the team and help take it to the next level. This position is located in the company’s Seattle (Belltown) office.

As Full Stack Software Engineer, you'll bring responsive, scalable, test-driven, accessible learning solutions to life for a web-based product.

 
Essential Functions:
  • Translate functional / nonfunctional requirements into system and application requirements
  • Plan and define well-defined sub-tasks and collaborate with an agile team of engineers using JavaScript (React, Node.js), HTML5, CSS, and JSON
  • Design and build highly performant APIs and services backed by a variety of SQL and NoSQL data stores, caches, and services, ensuring responsiveness and performance of dependent services
  • Leverage Cloud Architectures (Azure), RESTful APIs, and microservices to collaboratively build and deploy learning applications iteratively through continuous delivery pipelines
  • Maintain and improve code integrity and organization while writing clear, maintainable, and testable code and documentation
  • Sustain and increase requirements our customers demand like Accessibility, Privacy, Security, and Usability

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or information technology, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Applied knowledge of core CS Concepts
  • Proficiency with React or demonstrated expediency in picking up similar frameworks
  • Expertise in building / managing Node.js based APIs and services
  • General proficiency with front-end (HTML5, CSS3, browser APIs, and canvas) and back-end (HTTP / JSON / XML / RESTful Web Services) tools, techniques and practices
  • Proficient understanding of distributed code management and deployment tools such as GIT and CI / CD (e.g. CircleCI, Travis, Azure Pipelines, CloudDeploy, etc.)
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and conflict-resolution skills
  • Learning mindset: Perseverance, Growth, and Collaboration drive your daily desire to learn from, and share learnings with, your team
Preferred:
  • Expertise with React (patterns, commonly used modules, and building self-contained, reusable, testable components)
  • Experience building scalable and resilient cloud infrastructure as code with Terraform and Azure
  • Container-based build / deployment experience (e.g. Docker, ECS, EKS, K8s)
  • Professional experience in delivering web experiences of similar complexity with Accessibility, Privacy, Security, and Usability requirements
  • Demonstrated success working on teams with an automation test-driven mindset
  • Ownership mindset and vigilance to keep users and stakeholders at the heart of team priorities and commitments
  • Familiarity or experience with .NET Core and PHP
