Senior Software Design Engineer in Test (SDET)

The Senior SDET position is responsible for the design and implementation of automated testing tools and test environment for the company platform.
 
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Implement and maintain an environment and tools for automated testing
  • Maintain documentation of test system & environment
  • Maximize test coverage of most critical features of the system
  • Develop, maintain, and grow a suite of automated regression tests to exercise RESTful web services and browser-based client-side functionality
  • Validate correctness of transactional data against documented business rules
  • Collaborate with developers to define hooks needed in core code in order to facilitate automated testing
  • Actively participate in the Scrum development process: standups, grooming, sizing, sprint planning
  • Thoroughly log and document bugs in the tracking system
  • Participate in definition and clarification of business and product requirements
  • Communicate progress, issues, and risks in a timely manner
  • Co-responsible for project success (technical & stakeholder satisfaction)
  • Contribute to improving software development processes (version control, code reviews, unit testing, build / release, automation, etc.)
  • Promote software QA best practices
  • Protect the confidentiality of sensitive and/or proprietary company & customer information, including HIPAA data
  • Support and promote solutions values through positive interactions with both internal and external stakeholders on a regular basis
  • Attend to other initiatives and goals as assigned
Experience, Skills and Qualifications:
  • BS or degree in related field or equivalent experience
  • 10+ years developing automated test software
  • Proficiency in developing automated test systems for transactional web applications, including testing of RESTful web services and client-side presentation functionality
  • Programming proficiency in a high-level language required, as well as the ability to quickly learn new languages
  • Ability to assimilate our innovative approach to programmatic testing and extend / improve upon the methodology
  • Familiarity with working in cloud environments highly desirable
  • Capable of understanding / analyzing and programmatically generating complex test data sets
  • Working experience with MongoDB and gloang highly desirable
  • Familiarity with web application security best practices and security testing preferred
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Self-motivated, ability to be effective with minimal direction
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with team members in a Scrum-based environment
  • Ability to adapt to changing requirements, business processes, etc.
  • High level of curiosity and critical thinking, & strong desire to learn new concepts
  • Healthcare industry experience a major plus
