Director of Process Improvement

The Division of Information Technology provides leadership for all aspects of the client’s technology. Its services encompass support for teaching and learning, administrative and student support services, information security, as well as the foundational technology infrastructure that enables the creative and innovative works of students, faculty and staff. The IT Division is nearing the completion of the implementation of its strategic plan, and is engaging the campus in planning for the next three years. Emerging areas of focus align with institutional priorities and will enable the success of students, support effective teaching and learning, improve graduation rates, enable efficient operations, and provide responsive, secure and reliable technology services. The IT Division seeks to be a leader among peers in the adoption of innovative technologies and technology management practices. It has and will continue to embrace mobile technologies and cloud services and is positioning the infrastructure to increase adoption of internet-connected devices as tools in teaching, research and campus operations.


Under the direction of the Associate Vice President, IT, the Director of Digital Transformation and Process Improvement is an integral part of the IT leadership team and a key participant in all aspects of planning and management of digital transformation strategies.
 
Responsibilities:
  • Manages many technology solutions in support of digital transformation strategies
  • Is responsible for participating in the strategic planning and development of digitally transformed processes, procedures, and documents
  • Represents it at campus-level meetings pertinent to digital process transformation initiatives
  • Sets high, achievable aspirations for services and operations that align with client goals and objectives
  • Gathers user requirements to streamline the process and collaboratively selects the appropriate application to implement in a timely fashion
  • Manages the strategic direction of enterprise document management and electronic signature applications
  • Ensures applications are patched, upgraded, and managed to maximize user features and maintain stability
  • Manages and updates the process improvement initiative schedule and conducts regular updates with it governance groups
  • Builds and executes process improvement strategies to grow the organization's internal capacity to improve
  • Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
  • Equivalent to graduation from an accredited institution with a Master's degree in a job related field
  • Equivalent to six years of progressively responsible experience with application support, process improvement initiatives, or technical training required
  • Experience with Document Management Systems such as OnBase or PeopleSoft desired
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
  • Knowledge and prior experience managing web and/or application development teams
  • Project management skills
  • General knowledge of organizational development and change management
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational, supervisory, and interpersonal skills needed to work effectively with a wide variety of internal and external resources
  • Strong leadership skills with a proven track record of building and leading strong teams
  • Strong decision making skills and ability to work under pressure
  • Ability and specialized skills to:
    • lead and manage projects
    • make presentations
    • perform training
    • analyze customer needs and business processes
  • Must be able to deal effectively with challenging service delivery situations and interact effectively with a wide range of constituents, both functional and technical
  • Ability to set strategies for the development of web-based and/or mobile applications
  • Must be able to contribute to the development of enterprise architecture design, implementation and management of key information assets
  • Ability to lead staff through changes in technologies and skill sets
  • Ability to lead efforts defining requirements and selecting commercially vended solutions including SaaS based strongly preferred
