Position Description:
This position is responsible to follow established software development standards policies. Design, develop, implement, test, and analyze software programs and applications. This includes researching, designing, documenting, and modifying software specifications throughout the production lifecycle. The software engineer will also analyze and amend software errors in a timely and accurate fashion and provide status reports where required. Specific duties and responsibilities include:
Collaborate with project leads, business analysts, end users and third-party contacts to design, implement and test software applications
  • Collaborate with engineers, analysts, and designers in conceptualizing and developing new software programs and applications.
  • Plan phases of the software development lifecycle (SDLC) for a variety of projects.
  • Assist in the preparation and documentation of software requirements and specifications.
  • Research and document requirements of software users.
  • Conduct research on emerging application development software products, languages, and standards in support of procurement and development efforts.
  • Recommend, schedule, and perform software improvements and upgrades.
  • Write, translate, and code software programs and applications according to specifications.
  • Run and monitor software performance tests on new and existing programs for the purposes of correcting errors, isolating areas for improvement and general debugging.
  • Administer critical analysis of test results and deliver solutions to problem areas.
  • Generate statistics and prepare and write reports for management and/or team members on the status of the programming process.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of user manuals and guidelines.
  • Develop and provide guidance to staff for new jobs or solutions that are easy to support, easy to change, easy to test.
  • Write programming scripts to enhance functionality as necessary.
  • Collaborate with members of the IT department to assist in resolving problems with software products or company software systems. Enhance staff accomplishments and competence by planning delivery of solutions, answer technical and procedural questions for less experienced team and business members, offer suggestions for improved processes, mentor team members.
  • Take ownership of end-to-end incident resolution that may involve multiple departments.
  • Provide consultation for internal stakeholders.

Required Experience:
Five years of software development experience. Technical knowledge of programming languages, including Unix Shell Scripting, Oracle PL/SQL. Experience working with enterprise applications, including Amisys. Experience with Visual Studio 2010, Programmer Studio, and Toad. Experience with Oracle PL/SQL programming including writing stored procedures, functions, and SQL reporting. Experience working in integrated development environments, including Oracle, Unix, and
Micro focus COBOL. Extensive experience with HP UX operating systems. Knowledge the Healthcare industry including Enrollment, billing, and Claims Processing. Software troubleshooting experience and knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws. Experience with specific phases of the software development life cycle, especially developing functional requirements, software development, and unit testing. Familiarity with software development methodologies

Preferred Experience:
ITIL Certification, Familiarity, 
and experience working in Agile teams with experience in developing/updating user stories, acceptance criteria, and project documentation. Experience in Test Driven Development and automated unit testing. Familiarity with the healthcare industry. Amisys Advance Release 6.

Assignment Length:
This assignment will begin as soon as possible and run through December 2018.
