Electrochemistry Research Scientist
The primary purpose of this position is to conduct chemistry lab work on an internal grant, jointly supported by Discovery and CSD, to develop electrochemistry methodology. Building on a set of foundational procedures the individual will expand on these techniques and develop new reaction conditions for applications within Client's medicinal and process chemistry departments. This individual will participate in synthesis planning and execution of the day-to-day work on the project and will be expected to work independently. Bridging the reaction methodologies to scalable processes will involve exploring flow chemistry applications.

Scope of Work:
• Demonstrate literature methods and adapt conditions to our newly acquired electrochemistry infrastructure
• Employ successful methodologies in the synthesis of a series of fragments for deck enhancement libraries
• Investigate the use of electrochemistry for metabolite synthesis and other methods of late-stage functionalization
• Adapt procedures to flow-equipment to enable scale-up

- PhD in synthetic organic chemistry, preferably with 1-3 years of relevant experience in industry
- Knowledge of the practical and theoretical aspects of synthetic organic chemistry, including electrochemistry
- Operational and theoretical understanding of LC/MS, GC, and NMR
- Familiarity and experience with flow chemistry would be a strong asset
- Good analytical lab operational skills (pipettors, balances, etc.)
- Ability to troubleshoot common laboratory equipment
- Strong computer skills (including ChemDraw, SciFinder, Microsoft Excel) and experience with electronic notebooks
- Ability to work in a methodical and organized fashion
- Ability to read and follow method or research protocols
- Ability to write in a concise fashion in order to record all pertinent data in lab notebook
- Demonstrate scientific/technical proficiency
- Excellent verbal communication and presentation skills.
