Network Engineer
The Network Engineer will be responsible for the network and switching infrastructure and services architecture within Infrastructure Technology group. This includes core, distribution and edge switch configurations and architecture. This also extends to supporting services such as Enterprise WiFi, Remote Access, and Load balancing solutions. Hands on knowledge of Cisco Catalyst and Nexus platforms a must. Experience with Palo Alto and Cisco ASA firewalls or Aruba Wireless is a plus. You will work directly with the other network engineering staff responsible for the day-to-day operation of the network environments as well as represent Network and Technical Services on group and enterprise wide projects.
• Provide hands-on networking subject matter expertise in areas of Cisco route/switch including the Nexus and Catalyst platforms, application delivery, and throughput performance.
• Work directly with stakeholders and department leaders to clarify business requirements and design solutions to meet those needs.
• Develop and document process and procedures in support of designed and deployed solutions.
• Collaborate with cybersecurity to ensure appropriate controls are integrated into all relevant solutions to meet policy standards and support industry best practices.
• MACD - Participate in network systems change activities while strictly following Change Management policies and standards.
• Actively contribute in team discussions regarding platform support and proposed technology solutions.
• Must have 6 years of direct network engineering experience with at least 2 in a senior role.
• Must be able to deliver services and solutions in a structured and deadline-driven manner.
• Experience in design of distributed high-availability application delivery environments to include local/global loadbalancing and database driven applications. Knowledge of DNS is a big plus.
• In-depth Knowledge of network protocols and technology - EIGRP, BGP, OSPF, MPLS, VRF, and STP.
• Extensive knowledge of packet and flow level TCP/UDP application optimization.
• In-depth understanding of security best practices in hardening network environments and supporting remediation activity.
• Low-level troubleshooting skills using tools such as Netscout, Tcpdump, Wireshark, and netflow.
• Experience with network provider peering (BGP) and configuration to include route optimization and analysis.
• Good visualization and documentation skills using tools such as Visio, LiveAction, NetMRI, Solarwinds and Ansible.
• Experience in managing datacenter physical plant operations such wiring and interconnects.
