Perform EMI / EMC (Electromagnetic Interference / Electromagnetic Compatibility) tests and measurements of electronic and electro-mechanical equipment and subsystems using standards and precision measurement instrumentation. Analyze radiated emissions signals by use of anechoic chamber along with probing and shielding techniques. Work from provided test specifications and/or obtain necessary specifications from library as required, using established procedures. Set up and operate computer-controlled or manually-operated lab test equipment such as Spectrum Analyzers, Signal Generators, RF Amplifiers, Logic Analyzers and Oscilloscopes. Maintain tools, equipment and work area in a clean and orderly condition. Work under general supervision.
  • Associate Degree in Electronics, Electrical or equivalent with 2-4 years related experience.
  • Able to read, understand, and follow standards, test instructions, procedures, and troubleshoot.
  • Able to understand electronic schematics, and electrical wiring diagrams.
  • Experience using electrical test equipment such as spectrum analyzers, amplifiers, signal generators, oscilloscopes, digital multi-meters, power supplies, etc.
  • Proficient soldering under a microscope (small components).
  • The ability to fabricate test harnesses, load simulators and test fixtures.
  • Ability to utilize basic shop equipment and various hand tools.
  • Set up all test stations in preparation to perform testing in a timely manner to IEC/EN standards.
Familiarity to standard IEC/EN 60601-1-2 and the some or all of the following test:
  • Conducted Emissions
  • Radiated Emissions
  • Harmonics & Flicker
  • Surge
  • EFT
  • ESD
  • Radiated Immunity
  • Conducted Immunity
  • Voltage Dips and Interrupts
  • Magnetic Immunity
LabVIEW experience or simulated test software experience is a plus.
Maintain lab equipment calibrations
  • Work with the Onsite calibration lab to stay current on calibrations
  • Assure that Test schedules don’t conflict with equipment calibration dates
Ability to independently complete assignments with minimal supervision.
Organized and methodical work habits.
Good technical writing skills.
Neat and precise record keeping.
Computer literacy.
