Main Purpose of Job
Working with appropriate supervision and direction, provide technical support in the prototyping, validation and production scale activities for extruded products. Document and train for equipment, processes, material and operator specifications for manufacturing. Support engineers in process and tooling development, data acquisition and analysis.
 
Responsibilities
  • Knowledge of Plastics Processing and Plastics machinery maintenance.
  • Lead, Coordinate and perform experiments, monitor experiments, collect data, maintain laboratory notebook, report data and organize/archive data.
  • Lead, coordinate and perform simple IQ, PC, OQ and PQ activities in accordance with Corporate, Divisional and Site Process Validation procedures and policies.
  • Support Manufacturing Engineers in transferring manufacturing from development to production.
  • Perform routine process analysis to verify accuracy and completeness of established process
  • Conduct product and process testing to prescribed Test Plans and Protocols.
  • Lead or coordinate product builds for development and testing. Build product for development and testing
  • Train production operators in new processes.
  • Contact outside vendors for purchasing of materials, components, fixturing, services, etc.
 
 
REQUIREMENTS
  • Graduated from high school, or passed GED/HISET
  • 4+ years of technical experience in Manufacturing or equivalent education.
  • General metrology skills (eg., experience with machinist microscopes, calipers, ROI, and weight scales)
 
Preferences
  • Knowledge of polymer or plastics extrusion (e.g. catheter, wire and cable, pipe, free tube extrusion, fiber etc)
  • Good electrical/ mechanical problem solving skills
  • Ability to read, and redline engineering documentation (eg., execute IQs, EBRs, equipment documentation)
  • Experimental techniques: Maintaining a Lab Notebook, Statistics knowledge
  • Experience with GMP requirements and medical/ pharmaceutical/ regulated (defense/aerospace/ automotive) industry requirements
  • PLC programming
  • General metrology skills (eg., experience with machinist microscopes, calipers, ROI, and weight scales)
  • 5S and Lean Manufacturing Skills
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Good mechanical/ electrical problem solving skills
  • Knowledge of the English and Metric measuring systems with the ability to perform mathematical conversions to each
  • Contact outside vendors for purchasing of materials, components, fixturing, and outside services
  • Ability to provide concentrated visual and mental attention
  • Ability to work overtime as required
  • Ability to work well with others
  • Ability to work well on teams
