Job Description
Major purpose: Client is hiring a User Experience Research Specialist. The role supports UX research projects that strive to understand and improve online customer experience on the company's global websites. This position is managed by the Senior UX Research Manager and you'll work closely with UX project managers, designers, developers, web analysts and business stakeholders. Core tasks include assisting with all aspects of UX research including test design, test implementation, data analysis, reporting and presentation of results.
Major functions: • Participate in all phases of UX research (design, implementation, reporting)
• Collaborate with and be responsive to business stakeholders
• Create smart and efficient usability studies that accurately address UX issues
• Support efficient, timely execution of research projects
• Execute research projects using a wide range of tools and methods
• Perform competitive analysis
• Communicate UX test results and how to use them to improve UI
• Propose new UX research projects
• Define customer profiles for tests
• Recruit participants or work with vendors on recruiting
• Create screening questions, test questions, tasks and test materials
• Set up studies in usertesting.com, UserZoom, dscout, surveymonkey, usabilityhub and other test platforms
• Review recordings and code observed behaviors
• Create reports of test results that describe the findings and recommend actions
• Communicate with stakeholders during all phases of testing
Required Technical/Functional Skills:
Preferred Technical/Functional Skills: • Working knowledge of experimental design and statistics; familiarity with basic experimental design principles preferred:
Creating and testing hypotheses
Sampling
Within vs. between subjects design
Counterbalancing
Coding observed behaviors
Independent vs. dependent variables
• Proficient with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
• Understanding of effective web design and key UX principles
• Familiar with HTML, CSS and basic aspects of web development
• Experience with eCommerce preferred
• Familiarity with Jira a plus
• Project Management experience preferred
• Demonstrated experience working in a fast-paced environment
• Organizational skills to manage multiple projects with different deadlines and prioritize tasks independently
• Adaptability to shifting priorities, demands and timelines
• Possess a positive attitude and ability to work in a collaborative and energetic team environment
• Patience for wading through data preferred
• Deeply curious, empathetic and passionate about figuring out why people do what they do preferred
Required Education/Experience/Licenses etc.: • BA or B.SC in a social science such as Psychology, Anthropology, Ethnography or in Human-Computer Interaction.
