Seeking an experienced Buyer for a long-term contract opportunity with a multi-national chemical company. The position of the Buyer is to be responsible for the purchase of commodities and services and will oversee contract ownership & management, as well as developing and deploying procurement strategies.

Other responsibilities include:
  • Applying developed strategy into contracts for assigned company sites in accordance with corporate sourcing guideline; approx. 50% Operational/50% Strategic
  • Negotiates midsize value contracts, complex requirements and meets client objectives while achieving maximum overall cost effectiveness. Includes understanding and utilizing the tender process, legal terms and conditions, and contract management
  • Interacts directly with internal clients and suppliers and ensures accurate requirements. Establishes and maintains an effective procurement system consistent with LYB control guidelines. May also include support of Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) activities
  • May be responsible for complete administration of contracts in SAP and other eProcurement systems, monitors the ordering process, and helps improve overall procurement efficiency
  • Responsible for executing the procurement strategies as defined by a Procurement manager on a site, regional or country basis. Includes the planning of purchasing and scheduling of materials, services, and supplies if applicable, but normally does not include sourcing. Can include the tender and request for quotation for final negotiations with vendors for creating Spot Purchase orders and Outline agreements including management of change of suppliers. Increased responsibility for several sites
  • Ensures accurate definition of requirements & good understanding of the market environments; develops comprehensive contract criteria; leads supplier approval and selection process; negotiates and prepares contracts; & establishes and maintains an effective procurement system consistent with company control guidelines
  • Establishes and utilizes a site support network (incl. travel to assigned sites and attending site/planner meetings) for timely acquisition of site managed materials and services incl. to suppliers while achieving maximum overall cost effectiveness within a country or regional basis and including cost savings objectives
  • Acts as a direct procurement contact incl. for urgent orders for internal clients located at various sites up to agreed spend level. Increased responsibility for several sites
  • Provides Sourcing plans for low value projects following the agreed forms, thresholds, processes and sourcing strategy methodology implying necessary project management
  • May maintain and Contract ownership of low value Outline Agreements, e-Catalogues and spot PO ́s as well as executes all other transactional tasks. Increased responsibility for several sites. Increased responsibility for midsize value contracts
  • Subject matter Expert for SAP procurement processes or systems
  • Support Supplier Continuously Improvement initiatives incl. efforts to resolve supplier and site issues/disputes while developing and executing a proactive process

Qualifications:
  • Highly leveled SAP experience
  • Willing to travel (10%)
  • Oil & Gas industry experience highly preferred
