Position Overview:
SEW seeks a qualified person to support its Asset management practice in support of the development and deployment of back office and mobile field software solutions. The Asset Management Consultant will work with SEW clients and partners to analyze, design, develop, implement and evaluate asset management and asset health programs and strategies in alignment with industry best practices.
Our desired candidate is someone that has worked extensively in the electric utility and has an in-depth understanding of electric/power systems, apparatus, processes and terminology. Our ideal candidate is someone that has a deep background in performing and/or managing asset inspections inside the electric utility as well as having developed asset health assessments, tracking and reporting for electric and/or power generation assets. Our ideal candidate has a proven track record in analyzing and minimizing asset and equipment failures. Lastly, our ideal candidate is self-motivated, eager and willing to engage others and works well in a team environment.

Essential Functions:
  • Consult with SEW internal teams and partners to define critical asset management capability and functionality needed for SEW software solutions
  • Work with SEW customers to define asset management strategy and solutions in support of required use cases
  • Research and develop industry best practices regarding asset health assessments
  • Provide functional support and guidance to the development of asset management features in Software as a Service (SaaS) mobile solutions
  • Facilitate internal / external discussions to SEW in support of asset management requirements
  • Assist SEW clients in developing optimization strategies for aging equipment / infrastructure
  • Assist SEW clients to determine critical metrics such as Return on Investment (ROI) and Return on Assets (ROA)

Skills & Experience Required:
  • Strong communications skillset; ability to communicate effectively with field workers
  • Strong analytical capability; the ability synthesize large amounts of information
  • Strong writing capability; the ability to prepare concise and accurate technical documentation
  • Strong attention to details; ability to spot trends and perform other types of analysis
  • Computer literacy with spreadsheets and word processing applications (i.e., Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, etc.)
  • Ability to build and nurture relationships inside and outside the utility sector
  • Familiarity with utility accounting principles (ie, capital/expense budgeting, cost accounting, etc)
  • Familiarity to Graphical Information Systems (GIS) such as ESRI, Google or Apple mapsPractical experience with storm work and restoration efforts
  • Practical experience with building asset performance management strategy and plans
  • Working knowledge of SCADA systems
  • Outage management including outage prediction and/or restoring outages
  • Designing or developing asset management and/or grid optimization strategy
  • Experience with defining asset heath indices specifically for circuit breakers, transformers and other power grid apparatus
  • Practical experience with equipment failure analysis in electric operations or power generation
  • Familiarity with electric transmission, distribution and power generation systems
  • Firm understanding of key utility KPI's
  • Familiarity with condition-based maintenance (CBM) methods and practices
  • Knowledge of Asset health indices such as mean time to failure (MTF) or useful life
  • Working knowledge of asset performance management systems such as Meridium or Ivara
  • Ability to facilitate discussion and problem solving within small groups
  • Firm grasp of electric field operations including work order management
  • Practical experience working with underground and network electrical systems
  • Utility infrastructure replacement activities
  • Electric utility / power generation maintenance and inspection activities
  • Experience with Dissolved Gas Analysis (DGA) transformer assessments and breaker failure analysis
  • 3-5 years performing or supporting scheduled maintenance activities at electric utilities
  • Experience with conducting asset risk assessments
  • Familiarity with utility KPIs and dashboard reporting
