ETL Developer

 The Sr. Programmer Analyst will work closely with a team of data modelers, data and business analysts to design and implement data automation processes.   The focus of this position will be building Extraction, Transformation, and Loading (ETL) processes using the Microsoft suite of SQL Server products.  He/she will also perform T-SQL ad-hoc data analysis and QA, create automated reporting solutions as needed, and write SQL stored procedures and user-defined functions.  He/she will collaborate with the ongoing operational stability of the ETL processes, ensuring they are properly monitored and audited to provide data integrity, accuracy and timeliness of delivery.  The incumbent will also lead changes in ETL processes as data specifications change, specifically with EDI/X12 and other industry standard file formats.  Lastly, he/she will also write business requirement and technical specification documents. 
 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Design, develop, implement, and validate ETL processes.
  • Work with business users to clarify ETL requirements and business rules.
  • Create and execute unit test plans based on system and validation requirements.
  • Troubleshoot, optimize, and tune ETL processes.
  • Document all ETL-related work per clients methodology.
  • Maintain existing code and fix bugs whenever needed.
  • Ensure that timelines of loading/validating data are met.
  • Collaborate with various functional business units to gather reporting requirements.
  • Create ad-hoc and automated reporting solutions.
  • Performs other related duties and special projects as assigned.
 
CORE COMPETENCIES / KNOWLEDGE & SKILL REQUIREMENTS
  • Expertise with developing an ETL lifecycle to support enterprise-wide data processing projects (i.e., Enterprise Data Warehouse).
  • Strong database-related development skills (complex SQL queries, complex store procedures and user-defined functions in SQL Server).
  • Strong experience with Microsoft SSIS
  • In depth knowledge with data analysis, data modeling and data mart design skills.
  • Ability to synthesize data from various sources and perform various types of data analysis.
  • Experience with standard regulatory reporting requirements such as HEDIS measures.
  • In-depth knowledge of industry standard health data code sets such as ICD-9/ICD-10, CPT/HCPCS, revenue codes, and NDC (Pharmacy).
  • Knowledge of EDI file formats and processing.
  • Strong organization, time management and multi-tasking abilities.
  • Solid analytical skills and problem solving skills with the ability to formulate and communicate recommendations for improvement.
  • Have the ability to work effectively with others and have good interpersonal skills.
  • Be highly organized and work well under pressure.
  • Must be willing to accept responsibility and to show good judgment, initiative, and resourcefulness.
 
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & TRAINING REQUIRED 
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
  • 5+Years of ETL developer experience using SSIS or Pervasive tools.
  • 5+Years of SQL Server experience.
  • 5+Years of proven ability to interpret data in order to locate anomalies and recommending corrections plans.       
  • 5+Years of advanced SQL skills (SQL Server).
  • 1+Years with HIPAA/EDI X12 4010/5010 healthcare-related file formats including 834, 837, and NCPDP formats.
