SR Bigdata Architect with TOGAF and Full stack

  • Ability to speak and present to large groups of people.
  • Requires a minimum of 8 years of related experience in designing Big Data platforms, Bachelor's degree; or 5 years and a Master's degree
  • Expertise in designing high volume, low latency, Enterprise Platforms. Knowledge of and experience in performance optimization, tuning and monitoring
  • Expertise in Modernization using concepts such as Full-stack, SOA and Microservices.
  • General understanding of Enterprise Architecture frameworks (e.g. TOGAF, Zachman, etc.).
  • Experience operating in an agile environment, using the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe).
  • Expertise in Cloud Solutions and Virtualization using platforms such as Azure, AWS, Google or OpenStack
  • Deep expertise in Traditional and Big Data architecture domains (Data warehousing, ETL, HDFS, BI Reporting, Visualization, Hadoop, Spark, NoSQL).

The Big Data Architect will design a complete and complex framework, system or product in a way that addresses current issues or gaps of coverage. He/she will also proactively seek and work with the product owners in system design to meet the client commitments. In this role, he/she will have a significant influence on the shape and functioning of Catalina's products offering by leading and contributing to the framework architecture to delivery data as a service to our clients.

  • Build the target state architecture for the Big Data platform(EDH), keeping in mind foundational capabilities, industry trends and business capabilities that are sought to be delivered
  • Own the 2 major deliverables – a completed Enterprise Data Design document and POC. See the Deliverables section below.
  • Take a technical leadership role within a working group to complete the Design document and POC
  • Define the Platform Architecture for new products by evaluating the business drivers for change and identifying the architectural changes necessary to realize business value.
  • Have wide-ranging experience, he/she should use professional concepts and company objectives to resolve complex issues in creative and effective ways.
  • Facilitate build vs buy decisions and prepare platform design for RFP
  • Partner with Enterprise Architecture teams within Catalina to document Platform specific Standards and Patterns.
  • Provide multi-tiered & multi-layered technical expertise for next generation initiatives.
  • Have fluency in most IT architecture areas including design and governance.
  • Collaborate closely with multiple parties (Scrum Masters, Release Train Engineers, Infrastructure Architects, Security Architects, etc.) from across Catalina.

Project Deliverables
The Design phase of this project will deliver a Technical design document for the overall architecture and build a Proof of Concept for up to 2 Use Cases to demonstrate the viability of the design. The Technical Design document will be used in a subsequent RFP to begin building the solution.
  • The Technical Design document will include the following sections:
    • Cloud vs. On-Prem cost analysis
    • Application Stack recommendation
    • Data Models to support the identified Use Cases
    • Data Quality Rules to support the identified Use Cases
    • Data Business Rules to support the identified Use Cases
    • Portability requirements and recommendations
    • Expandability requirements and recommendations
    • DR Plan requirements and recommendations
    • Capacity Plan requirements and recommendations
    • Cost Model (Baseline + Growth) for full scale solution
    • Project Timeline to build the full scale solution with clear Milestones
  • Proof of Concept – Using the Design above, the team will build a low volume subset of infrastructure that will demonstrate how data is ingested and processed with both data quality and business rules from its raw state to a usable state
