Team Overview
This team is responsible for the architecture, design, development, testing, and 3rd line support of all end-user desktop component and packaging services.  This includes Windows Desktop integration components, and automation for Windows Desktop, Windows Server, iOS, Android, and Windows Phone.
Role Summary
We have over 100,000 desktops and thousands of desktop applications.  Our team's remit is to provide tooling and automation to support the integration of 3rd party services with the desktop, and automation for the packaging workflow using C#, Java, and Tomcat.
This role has three major components.
  • 1) Development: We provide several desktop integration components and self-service portals. The desktop components are written in C#.  The portals are written in Java on Tomcat and .NET on IIS.  Part of this role will be to extend and enhance these products to provide additional self-service options and to reduce operational overhead.
  • 2) L3 Support: There is currently ~1 hour/day of manual effort involved in this role (ticket resolution). This will decrease as self-service automation is developed.
  • 3) Architecture / App Ownership: The right candidate will have experience architecting medium sized systems, performing risk and security analyses, and designing automated workflows.
There is a significant amount of cross-team communication required.  You will interact directly with SME, engineers, and our product management team.  Their, and your, combined input will define the product roadmap.  The development team is small, so the ideal candidate will be comfortable with direct responsibility for delivering functionality and driving change.
Additional tasks:
Act as SME for our desktop integration components.
Drive standardization and adherence across the portfolio.
Provide L3 support for issues related to the service.
