Job Description:
Job Overview:
We are seeking a passionate and detail-oriented QA Tester to join the Minecraft Education (EDU) team. This role focuses on advocating for quality by ensuring new features, content, and experiences deliver a positive and impactful experience to educators and learners. The ideal candidate will bring a user-focused mindset to testing while collaborating across development, support, and content creation teams.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Client Architecture Support:
    • Validate new EDU features during development stages.
    • Test compatibility and overlap between EDU and Bedrock platform updates.
    • Identify and report regressions or legacy feature conflicts.
  • Content Testing Support:
    • Collaborate with EDU content developers to ensure downloadable worlds meet compliance, functionality, and usability standards.
    • Provide UX feedback for educational content to enhance learning engagement.
  • Collaboration with EDU Support:
    • Work with the Support team to triage and replicate customer-reported issues from tickets and social media.
    • Assist in debugging, root cause analysis, and creating actionable bug reports for development teams.
  • Test Execution & Planning:
    • Develop test passes based on feature acceptance criteria.
    • Own feature areas and contribute to overall test plan creation.
    • Validate bug fixes and assess risks to surrounding systems.
    • Collaborate across hardware platforms and environments (PC, tablet, console, etc.).
    • Advocate for the user experience with an educational lens, focusing on students, educators, and institutional administrators.

Required Skills & Experience:
  • Experience in manual QA testing, including creation and execution of test passes.
  • Familiarity with QA processes such as issue reproduction, defect logging, and validation testing.
  • Understanding of root cause analysis and ability to assess risk for adjacent features.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills – both in-person and online.
  • Ability to work across a variety of platforms and technologies.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with Minecraft, particularly in gameplay, mechanics, or modding.
  • Background in education, teaching, or working with learning technologies.
  • Understanding of user experience in classroom or learning environments.
  • Exposure to test areas such as:
    • UI/UX
    • Accessibility and compliance
    • Gameplay mechanics
    • Localization and telemetry
    • Multiplayer/networking
    • Web and companion applications

Tools & Technologies (Optional/Helpful):
  • Bug tracking and reporting tools (e.g., Azure DevOps, Jira)
  • Microsoft Office/Teams for collaboration
  • Debug tools (some familiarity helpful, coding/scripting not required)
