Duration: 6+ months Location: Sacramento, CA Description: Minimum of five (5) years of experience aligning IT systems with organizational business processes. • At least three (3) years of that experience must have been in a lead capacity. Must possess a Bachelor's degree in an IT-related or Engineering Field. • Additional qualifying experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis Possession of a valid Cisco Certified Networking Associate (CCNA) Certification from Cisco. • Possession of a valid Aruba Certified Switching Associate (ACSA) from Aruba Networks. • Possession of a valid Network+ Certification from CompTIA. • Two (2) years experience with physical installation of Access Switches and Access Points • Possession of a valid A+ Certification from CompTIA Duties: 1. In support of the IT Specialist II (Network Engineer), Devise, plan, deploy, and improve journey level components of the DSH wireless network while keeping RTLS (PDAS) functionality intact to support the Continuum suite of tools. As part of a larger wireless team, support, deploy and configure a large scale wireless refresh of 8000+ access points at all five campus locations. Collaborates with vendors, managers, and core network engineers to ensure wireless connectivity and performance for end-user devices, IOT devices and other wireless endpoints. Manages, configures and deploys wireless DSH network infrastructure in support of Continuum including but not limited to wireless access points, wireless controllers, ethernet/power, wireless appliances, wireless sub-systems, wireless load balancers, Intrusion Detection System/Intrusion Prevention Systems, DNS/DHCP, security software, wireless network monitoring tools and all other associated current and future wireless network related software and hardware across on-prem enterprise, cloud, and hybrid network infrastructure. Conducts analysis on business requirements to develop technical wireless network solutions and plans implementation, configuration and rollout of wireless network patches, enhancements, and refreshes. Designs, tests, and inspects enterprise-scale wireless network systems across five hospital campus locations. 2. Design and validate the performance, quality, and reliability of the RF link and wireless network across all campus locations. Conduct wireless surveys and retuning as required for PDAS and data reliability. Monitors and addresses wireless network performance issues by supervising performance, addressing wireless problems and breakdowns, and partnering with core network engineers to optimize the performance and improvement of the wireless network. Devise and support radio frequencies (RF) link performance, reliability, and quality metrics. Performs wireless modeling, analysis, and planning. Installs wireless network hardware, software, and components. Develops wireless network technology heat-maps, diagrams, blueprints, and documentation. Develops wireless network change test and implementation plans for wireless network configurations, improvements, and enhancements. Patches, refreshes, and maintains wireless network hardware, software, tools and systems. 3. Performs wireless network troubleshooting to isolate and diagnose journey level complexity wireless problems. Upgrades and refreshes wireless network hardware and software components as required to maintain business continuity, hardware and software support and uptime. Resolves level 2 wireless issues, complaints and tickets covering service issues routed to the wireless network team. Addresses outages/ uptime and latency/performance issues on wireless as they arise. 4. Analyzes, recommends, plans, and implements large and complex wireless network changes and migrations. Monitors high availability, health, redundancy, and stability of the wireless network environment using wireless network monitoring software on-prem and in the cloud. Ensures the wireless network and PDAS systems remain up, reliable, secure, and serviceable in collaboration with core network administrators, vendors and network vendors (Aruba, Cisco, etc.) 5. Ensures that all wireless network infrastructure systems are secured, patched, and remain in good working order and tests proposed configuration changes for minimal downtime and impact to endusers. Works closely with Information Security staff and other cross discipline teams across TSD to ensure that wireless infrastructure configurations meet all state and client required security standards and best practices. 6. Creates and maintains documentation of all DSH wireless network resources, including configurations,network diagrams, heat-maps, equipment, software, vendor support and licensing. Designs and coordinates the installation, configuration, power, and security of wireless network equipment with other wireless network team members. 7. Trains, mentors, and guides more junior engineering staff across disciplines and plays a direct role in the training and development of peers-cross team engineers and senior/junior level systems engineers working within the Continuum system to ensure a wide range of knowledge transfer is completed regularly, ensuring system stability over the long term. 8. Updates knowledge of best practices and technical skillset by keeping track of new and emerging technologies and strategies, partaking in workshops, self-paced trainings, and other educational opportunities, widening personal skillset and knowledge base. Network and read industry popular publications and websites to stay up to date on industry trends, latest strategies, and emerging technologies in the space. | ||||||
