Purpose of Position
The equipment operator is responsible for the safe, proper, and efficient operation of the tractor/trailer, front-end loader, water truck, and compactor, and if needed other systems at other Company's building grounds. Should have a thorough knowledge of all safety procedures pertaining to the operation of tractor/trailer. Overtime and shift work may be required. Work performed with supervision and direction from the monofill supervisor.

Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Job Functions)
  • Primarily responsible for safely transporting loads to and from the monofil as well as in-plant hauling of non-hazardous silicia cake, drilling mud cuttings and contaminated soil to the Desert Valley Monofill. (30%)
  • Adhere to all safety and environmental policies set forth by CalEnergy Operating Corporation. (10%)
  • Responsible for the safe, proper and efficient operation of the front-end loader to move and position loads in the 40-foot end dump trailers. (10%)
  • Check hitching and travel quality of loads to ensure safety and prevent damage to surrounding areas and equipment. (10Keep all equipment in good repair by reporting any damage, worn out parts or needed services, also keeping the equipment clean at all times. (10%)
  • Obtain and prepare the transport manifest prior to leaving the facility. (10%)
  • Provide clean-up assistance at plant bay areas. (10%)
  • Perform any additional responsibilities as requested and other duties as assigned. (10%)

  • Must be able to safely transport loads.
  • Keep all equipment clean and in good repair.
  • Establish and maintain effective work relationships within the department and the company.

Position Requirements
  • High school diploma or general education degree; two to three years tractor trailer driving experience including 40-foot end dumps.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret documents such as technical procedures and governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write routine reports and work completed on work orders.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Must have effective analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Ability to define obscure and incomplete problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to conceptualize and develop creative alternatives to problem resolution.
  • A valid class A driver's license with a current medical card is required.
