The Service Management Developer designs, develops and configures applications on the ServiceNow platform. This role requires good communication skills to collaborate effectively with business stakeholders and the ServiceNow team in developing business solutions. The ServiceNow Developer assists the ServiceNow team in monitoring and maintaining the platform and has a solid understanding of IT Service Management processes and best practices.

Principal Responsibilities:
  • Serves as a technical advisor to other developers and provides technical guidance to leadership to assist with the formulation of long range development plans.
  • Configures and scripts business rules, UI policies, UI Actions, client scripts, script includes, workflows, ACLs, etc.
  • Designs and implements large and highly complex feature implementations while keeping a focus on maintainability and upgradability of the ServiceNow platform.
  • Leads the planning, development and implementation of business solutions. Ensures stakeholder, intended user's needs, and scheduled timelines are met.
  • Reviews business requirements and participates in their creation. Documents technical requirements.
  • Provide estimates on time, effort and resources to complete a scope of work.
  • Defines and executes unit testing procedures to ensure high quality solutions. Monitors effectiveness and efficiency of applications and systems and lead initiatives to improve system availability, cost, performance and manageability across the lifecycle.
  • Leads, plans, and manages major projects; including architectural design, technology selection, and methodologies to apply. Advises and influences both internal and external consulting teams.
  • Leads and ensures ongoing maintenance and support for ServiceNow. Leads technical evaluations. Interfaces with vendors to resolve major software issues.
  • Trains, mentors, and develops other staff.
  • Investigates new features and applications available in the ServiceNow platform and demos findings to internal or external teams.
  • Recommends and creates new policies. Creates and utilizes internal and industry best practices.
  • Takes a leadership role in keeping current with existing and emerging technologies and methodologies. Provides leadership in the ongoing establishment and use of programming standards and methodologies, with intent to improve overall efficiency of group and client satisfaction.
  • May perform other duties as assigned.
Required Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field and six years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum 5-10 yrs. work experience, preferably in a development role in a service management environment
  • At least 3 years' experience with ServiceNow
  • Experience with Incident, Change, Problem, Request, CMDB and Knowledge applications
  • Knowledge of development languages; specifically JavaScript, Ajax, HTML/CSS
  • Integrating with systems via webServices and JDBC
  • Certified ServiceNow administrator
  • Understand full application lifecycle
  • ITIL Foundations certification
Preferred Experience:
  • ServiceNow Certified Developer and familiarity with concepts around writing scoped applications
