Construction Digital & Technology product group is part of Construction Industries, and its mission is to make our customers more productive & safe by driving digital transformation at their jobsites. Telematics Visualization team leverages telematics data from industry's largest connected asset population and combines it with data from customer, dealer, and company information systems to provide an eco-system of actionable insights through visualization solutions & APIs. These enable our customers to improve asset, fleet and jobsite management as well as integrate with Enterprise systems. This team closely develops and executes business& product strategy by consolidating VOC from field-facing marketing, sales& dealer support teams and collaborating closely with internal & external development partners to develop, introduce & support cutting edge solutions to the market.
JOB PURPOSE: As a Senior Engineer, the incumbent will consolidate Voice of Customers and Dealers, and direct & participate in the concept, design and development of complex digital products and services in a manner to ensure products are leading-edge, and provide superior functionality, performance, quality, scalability and supportability.
JOB DUTIES:

The key role of a Senior Engineer is to technically manage the project that he/she has accountability for. At this level, incumbent will lead teams and collaborate with process partners to drive delivery.

Incumbent will provide technical leadership for customer/ dealer facing desktop & mobile applications by owning product requirements & specifications, and maintaining a MGPP (Multi-generational product plan) for products that he/she is responsible for. The incumbent will generate customer requirements based on business goals, identify customer pain points and problem areas, provide initial design approaches and predict and manage future trends related to proposed solutions in the space of Equipment Management, Fleet Management, Productivity Management and Safety Management.

The incumbent will challenge the status quo and champion new design initiatives, growing the scope of work from the existing projects by providing value added solutions, collaborating with other units/team, and keeping abreast of advancing technology.

Decisions may affect the work group or project team, multiple units, both internal and external customers, and dealers, and these decisions have significant impact to competitive advantage & brand reputation for Caterpillar.

As a Value team member in agile framework, the incumbent will be focus to deliver customer value, meeting deadlines, managing different stake holders, delivery dates, and quality of the deliverables.

Key areas of responsibility encountered in this role may include any or all of the following: design and promote new features; perform needs analysis and consolidate ideas & feedback from field teams, evaluate new products, lead requirement gathering sessions, lead production issue resolution, review UX concepts (Low-Fi/High-Fi), participate & conduct user acceptance testing (UAT), and help in improving cycle time of delivery and quality of the deliverables.

Communicate technical information to customers, team members, partners and other units; and support and advise other engineers, managers, marketing personnel, customers and partners.

This position requires the ability to listen as well as communicate product, workflow & technical information in a concise and accurate manner.

This position must keep up-to-date on changing customer/dealer needs as the project progresses, stay current with new technology, and provide guidance and direction on the project to less experienced engineers, technologists, and technicians.

Key skills to be developed at this level are issue prediction and management, technology time/cost analysis, conceptual design, champion of the NPI process, and excellent communication skills.

Bachelor's degree- Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems
7-10 years of Engineering experience
Prior experience in developing and supporting customer facing applications within the industry
