Registered Nurse – Psychiatric

Schedule: 3 shifts/week, Weekends & holidays required
Charting System: EPIC (highly preferred)
Float Required: As assigned
Note: 2 years recent psychiatric RN experience required

Compensation for 36 hours: $2145/week

Position Overview:
The Clinical Nurse is a Registered Professional Nurse providing safe, competent, and
quality care based on nursing theory and evidence-based practice to patients in a
psychiatric unit. The nurse collaborates with interdisciplinary teams, prioritizes patient
care, and ensures compliance with institutional and regulatory standards.

Job Duties:
• Delivers patient care using Relationship Centered Care principles and the nursing
process.
• Assesses, evaluates, and manages patient care needs, applying critical thinking
skills.
• Integrates assessment and intervention skills in psychiatric nursing care.
• Collaborates with healthcare teams to develop, implement, and evaluate plans of
care.
• Prioritizes patient care, including teaching, rounding, coaching, and discharge
planning.
• Educates patients and caregivers about care plans, health promotion, and disease
prevention.
• Communicates professionally with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams.
• Manages assignments and allocates resources effectively within Modified Primary
Nursing.
• Conducts purposeful hourly rounding (PHR) addressing patient needs and safety.
• Role models therapeutic relationships and evidence-based practices for patient
experience.
• Implements quality and safety measures, identifies risks, and escalates concerns
appropriately.
• Performs charge nurse duties and ensures operational efficiency of the unit.
• Documents accurately to meet hospital, regulatory, and legal standards.
• Supports professional development and clinical competence of self and
colleagues.

Requirements:
License: NYS RN License
Experience: Minimum 2 years RN experience; 2 years current psychiatric experience;
Certifications: BLS, CPI or PMCS Certification, SEL and SCR forms required
Other Requirements: EPIC experience highly preferred
