Registered Nurse – Labor and Delivery (LDRP)

Facility: Meritus Medical Center, Hagerstown, MD 21742
Start Date: 02/23/2026
Duration: 13 weeks
Shift: Nights, 3x12-hour (18:30 – 07:00)
On-Call: Yes – approximately 16-20 hours in a 6-week schedule; staff may choose to pick up one extra weekend and one extra weekday shift instead of call.

Job Overview:
Seeking an experienced LDRP RN with a minimum of 2 years of Labor & Delivery experience. The candidate must have proficiency with EPIC, NRP, AWHONN certifications (Beginner or Intermediate), and FHM. OB surgical recovery experience (C-section) is highly preferred. Local candidates within 50 miles may receive a lower rate.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct care to patients in Labor, Delivery, Recovery, and Postpartum (LDRP) settings.

  • Perform fetal monitoring, assist with vaginal and high-risk deliveries, C-sections, and obstetrical procedures.

  • Manage newborn care, including APGAR scoring, cord care, metabolic screening, phototherapy, circumcision assistance, and parent education.

  • Administer IV therapy, medications (Pitocin, Magnesium Sulfate, Terbutaline, Prostaglandins), blood products, and pain management modalities (Epidural, PCA, Nitrous Oxide).

  • Support postpartum care, breastfeeding/lactation, and patient education.

  • Maintain strict adherence to infection control and patient safety protocols.

  • Participate in on-call rotation as outlined above.

Qualifications:

  • RN license required; 2+ years L&D experience.

  • NRP, AWHONN, and FHM certifications.

  • EPIC charting experience preferred.

  • OB surgical recovery experience (C-section) highly preferred.

  • Must be able to float to other units if needed per hospital policy.

Patient Population:

  • Neonates, adolescents, and adults.

  • Facility births <100 to >300 per month.

  • High-risk antepartum, couplet care, postpartum, and surgical recovery patients.

Additional Notes:

  • Must work some holidays and weekends per scheduling requirements.

  • Floating may be required according to client policy and candidate's clinical experience.
