The Department of Veterans Affairs seeks a highly skilled and compassionate Anesthesiologist to provide exemplary care to our veteran community at the Buffalo VA. This role involves both onsite and on-call responsibilities in a state-of-the-art healthcare environment.

Qualifications

  • Education: Completion of an ACGME-accredited residency in Anesthesiology.
  • Certification: Board Certified/Board Eligible in Anesthesiology by the American Board of Anesthesiology (ABA).
  • Licensure: Possess an active, unrestricted medical license in any U.S. state or territory.
  • Residency Requirement: Successful candidates must have completed an ACGME-approved residency in Anesthesiology.
    • In addition, 1 FTE physician must be a Cardiac Anesthesiologist who has completed a one-year fellowship in Cardiac Anesthesiology and should be proficient with advanced echocardiography.
    • The Cardiac Anesthesiologist will be required onsite on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
    • If the candidate is not fellowship trained in Cardiac Anesthesiology, they should have sufficient clinical Cardiac Anesthesiology experience (3–5 years working in the field) and be comfortable reading TEE (trans-esophageal echocardiography).
    • (Note: Transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) is not performed at the Buffalo VAMC at this time).
  • Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience preferred.
  • Skills: Proficiency in advanced echocardiography (TEE), Apollo anesthesia machines, and related monitoring technologies.
