 IT Database Administrator - Churchill Downs Incorporated (Louisville, KY)

Position Summary:
The IT Database Administrator will work as a member of the system services team and works to ensure the uptime and reliability of the database environment. 

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure the successful and continued operation of the company enterprise systems and services.
  • Monitor and respond to systems outages as required.
  • Work as a member of a project team to deliver new business systems.
  • Complete status, systems utilization, and other required reports for management
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
  • Must have 12-15 years supporting the following:
  • Provide database administration and support (SQL Server 2000 thru 2014) for SQL Servers at all locations. 
  • Build and monitor database backup schedules and retention policies.
  • Configure and support SQL Server replication between properties
  • Monitor SQL Server counters and troubleshoot performance issues related to low memory, high CPU utilization, index fragmentation, missing indexes, disk contention, blocking sessions, and poorly designed queries.
  • Develop and support SQL jobs and SSIS packages for data imports, exports, and transformations. 
  • Construct new reports and support SQL Server Reporting Services environment.
  • Verify database backups (transaction log backups for databases in FULL recovery mode)
  • Verify replication agents are working
  • Verify SQL Server jobs and SSIS packages
  • Ensuring corporate security standards have been applied and maintained.
  • Construct new reports and support SQL Server Reporting Services environment.
  • Windows Server administration experience.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Comfortable with fast paced work environment.
  • Travel is required for this position.  Current travel demands are less than 10% per year and are subject to change depending on need.
Desired Qualifications:
Bachelor Degree in Information Science, Engineering, or other closely related discipline; or equivalent experience coupled with industry certifications.
