Sr. Director of Sales (Health Insurance - Medicaid, Medicare, Exchange and Commercial), Manhattan, NY
Position Overview
The primary functions of the Sr. Director of Sales are to direct, monitor, coordinate, and evaluate overall sales operations activities. This person will be responsible for the implementation and coordination of sales, strategies and tactics to support the plan's overall sales efforts. The position plays a critical role in identifying and building community collaborations with strategic partners to expand Companies' reach and prominence in acquiring and maintaining membership. The Sr. Director of Sales reports directly to the Chief Growth Officer.
Job Description
  • Oversee sales function for all product offerings including, Medicaid, Medicare, EP, Marketplace, Commercial, MLTC, HARP, CHP, SNP and other products.
  • Collaborate with Product Development teams in the continued development and enhancement of new products and services to situate the company in a competitive position.
  • Collaborate with Marketing and Communications on sales messaging and promotions.
  • Drive the process to identify and correct gaps in member experience, determine the key priorities for focused improvement of strategies, tactics and best practices.
  • Develop and effectively manage the annual sales departments budget.
  • Establish and maintain a leadership climate that leads to a highly engaged, diverse workforce committed to company mission, vision, and values.
  • Collaborate with the Learning & Organizational Development Department to define and coordinate sales training programs that enable staff to achieve their potential and exceed sales objectives.
  • Define optimal sales force structure to meet business objectives.
  • Put in place infrastructure and systems to support the success of the sales function.
  • Formulate the annual sales plan including specific objectives for each product line.
  • Monitor the sales compensation and incentive program and monitor its effectiveness on a continuing basis.
  • Define and execute the strategies and tactics necessary to achieve annual sales objectives.
  • Monitor customer, market and competitor activity and provide feedback to appropriate functional leads.
  • Assist in establishing and maintaining productive and cooperative relationships with clients and the community to ensure profitability and membership goals are attained.
  • Maintain a positive public relations image within the communities the company serves.
  • Work closely with the Chief Growth Officer and senior management teams within other divisions on all issues related to growth, strength and long-range profitability of the organization.
  • Ensure that all sales personnel are in compliance with all regulatory matters and that sales department guidelines, policies, and procedures are followed.
  • Analyze data from internal and external sources as it pertains to membership, community demographics, and competitive enrollment trends to increase Plan membership.
  • Monitor the quality and integrity of enrollment applications submitted.
  • Initiate and facilitate the relationship with various community based organizations and small business organizations to promote and the various products offered.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Communications, or Business Administration or related field is required.
  • MBA strongly preferred.
  • Healthcare insurance industry experience with a focus on government sponsored plans (Medicaid, Marketplace, CHP, SNP, and Commercial Groups) is required.
  • Minimum of 10 years progressive experience in sales with at least five years of senior management is required.
  • Management of large sales forces (100+ reps) preferred.
  • Experience as a leader in an organization undergoing transformational change.

Salary up to $220,000 with generous benefits (including pension plan)
