Learning Management System Administrator (LMS)
The Learning Management Systems Administrator provides technical leadership in the support of DOAS learning management system. This position is responsible for the support, design, development, implementation, delivery, and maintenance of resources used for instructional functions. The Learning Management System Administrator is the primary system administrator for DOAS' learning management system (LMS) and oversees the installation of all system updates, upgrades, integrated tools. Work is performed under the supervision of the Director of Enterprise Learning. The application used at DOAS is the Exceed LMS.
  1. Manages users and courses in the LMS (course creation, user creation and related processes.)
  2. Manages the look and feel of the LMS including appearance, tabs, and settings.
  3. Reviews and improves system operations practices.
  4. Provides immediate response to problems and emergency situations affecting normal operations.
  5. Troubleshoots and corrects problems to assure component availability and reliability within the LMS to the different LMS users.
  6. Provides local technical support and troubleshoots learning management systems' issues.
  7. Assists with end user functional support of learning management systems and other technical resources.
  8. Works closely with appropriate external vendors to ensure efficient functionality of resources. Works within the existing LMS infrastructure to develop, test, and implement LMS changes.
  9. Defines and develops roles within the learning management system (LMS) to ensure proper rights, access, and security for staff, students, and faculty.
  10. Communicates effectively with DOAS Division owners and staff from diverse professional and academic disciplines with varying degrees of technical knowledge/aptitude to troubleshoot and/or address LMS needs.
  11. Provides on-call support for LMS application level issues.
  12. Manages and integrates learning-related, third-party software into enterprise applications.
  13. Develops strong relationships with DOAS Division owners, DOAS employees, other agency employees, Help Desk and IT to ensure the effective use of LMS tools to enhance learning.
  14. Provides triage and troubleshooting for learning management system issues and tickets, escalating issues to the appropriate groups as needed.
  15. Serves as liaison between end users and vendors.
  16. Maintains procedures and policies to ensure the security and integrity of systems/networks.
  17. Develops and maintains up-to-date documentation for the use of the LMS.
  18. Writes and maintains technical procedures and policy documentation.
  19. Gathers and evaluates data to ensure appropriate technical solutions are pursued, developed, and implemented.
