Sr. Manager - International Tax & Financial Reporting

The Tax Team at Monsanto is searching for a Sr. Manager – International Tax & Financial Reporting to join our Global Finance Organization. This role will be apart of a group responsible for Monsanto's US international tax planning, business support and ASC740 reporting for all foreign entities as well as review and analysis of foreign tax provision for quarterly /annual financial statements and management of special tax projects. This position will serve as a key member of the International Tax group, focusing on operational tax planning and implementation issues (Cash repatriation, FTC, Subpart F, etc.); and ASC740 technical analysis (i.e. APB23, accounting impacts of planning projects, uncertain tax positions, etc). Tax planning projects will include effective tax rate and cash tax optimization. Additionally, you will be responsible for analysis and coordination regarding local foreign issues and the associated US tax and accounting consequences. This position will have extensive interface with multiple levels of tax professionals including external advisors and non-tax personnel in other corporate departments.
Responsibilities include:
  • Research, analyze, review and draft positions on highly technical US international tax issues such as technical analysis of subpart F blocked income
  • Analyze advice from foreign advisors on foreign tax technical positions
  • Assist with design and implementation of international planning projects as needed. Examples could include implementation of IP structure, implantation of principal manufacturing company structure
  • Provide quarterly support for ASC 740-30 (f/k/a APB23) analysis and documentation
  • Review and document accounting positions on technical international tax issues, both US and Ex-US
Qualifications:
Required skills/experience:
  • 8+ years of tax experience (including 5+ international tax) in a public accounting, law firm, or corporate tax environment
  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting or a related field of study
  • Knowledge and experience in technical international ASC740 issues such as reviewing positions in house or as an external auditor
  • Knowledge of subpart F, foreign tax credits, and repatriation planning
  • Ability to identify and resolve complex international tax issues
  • Team player with strong analytical, organizational and communication skills; self-motivated individual with ability to manage multiple tasks independently
  • Proficiency or aptitude for very strong project management skills
  • Challenges self and others to continuously seek process improvements while producing a high quality work product
  • Requires ability to obtain critical information from diverse and multi-cultural organization in a timely fashion
Desired skills/experience:
  • Advanced degree and/or certification
  • Jurisdiction familiarity with Europe, Latin America or Asia Pacific regions
