UBC - Sr. Project Accountant

POSITION SUMMARY

The position is responsible for full financial management of UBC client projects/engagements. This will include budgeting, project level profitability reporting, forecasting, change order (C/O) management, revenue recognition calculations and variance analysis interpretation. The position will work in-tandem with operational project managers to ensure that company financial objectives are met at the project level. Leading monthly financial reviews, taking ownership of assigned projects and developing relationships with operational counterparts are critical to being successful in this role.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Ability to understand client contracts including billing and payment terms.
  • Ability to understand client contract budgets and change order process.
  • Ability to work within financial system to input and track client budgets.
  • Ability to understand project financial position – monthly, year-to-date and life-to-date.
  • Ability to develop forecasts for remainder of project financial life.
  • Ability to develop rapport with operational project manager counterparts.
  • Ability to maintain financial independence when working with operational personnel.
  • Ability to summarize a lot of data into meaningful financial information.
  • Ability to manage invoice accuracy and unbilled amounts in accordance with client contracts.
Qualifications:
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree
  • 2-5 years relevant experience
  • PC skills, Microsoft Office programs, strong Excel and Access skills
  • Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
  • Proficiency in accounting processes, procedures, and controls
  • Experience in general ledger account analysis/reconciliation
  • Experience working with cross functional departments to research and resolve issues
  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills
  • Demonstrated ability to meet multiple deadlines and manage heavy workload
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule to accommodate departmental and project deadlines
