The Senior Coder is responsible for reviewing Outpatient records utilizing ICD-10-CM and CPT-4/HCPCS coding systems.

Extracts pertinent information from clinical notes, operative notes, radiology reports, laboratory reports, (including Pathology), procedure records, specialty forms, etc. Determines complex code assignment pertinent to emergency visits, diagnostic workups, and surgical techniques.
Codes and abstracts all outpatient records including surgery, observation, and interventional radiology as well as emergency, ancillary, and clinic visits in accordance with federal regulations and other agencies utilizing established coding principles and protocols.
Assures accuracy and timeliness of coding/abstracting assignments to expedite the billing process and to facilitate data retrieval for physician access and ongoing patient care.
Maintains knowledge and skills; reads current coding resources clinical information, videos, etc.
Meets or exceeds quality and productivity standards and established department benchmarks. Performs other duties

Required:
High School Diploma or GED is required.

Required:
At least 3 years relevant coding and abstracting experience in an acute care hospital required.
Preferred :
Experience with Epic, 3M CAC and HDM system preferred

Required:
Certification as a Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) required.
Remote, but must live in Georgia.

Preferred:
Certification as a Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) or a Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT)
