Job Summary: Junior Level System Engineer
Major Responsibilities: Supports in the design of standard systems that integrate hardware and software. Advises in standard
material specification, schematic preparation and appropriate follow-up. Provides support in
recommending ideas related to productivity improvement, cost reduction and improvement in customer
satisfaction.
Independently performs basic tasks and functions for professional field of work. Seeks advice and
guidance on nonroutine or problem areas from others. Identifies problems as they occur and takes
appropriate steps to solve them in situations where the problem is not difficult or complex.
Education/Experience/Licenses etc.: BS/BA in related discipline, or advanced degree, where required, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Certification may be required in some areas.
Demonstrates a basic knowledge of professional principles and skills. Effectively uses fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures of particular area of specialization.
Typically up to 2 years of successful experience in related field and successful demonstration of Key Responsibilities and Knowledge as presented above. Advanced degree MAY be substituted for experience, where applicable.
Manager's Comments: Design Engineers will be required to participate in design, development, and testing of material handling systems
Typical activities include:
o Electrical schematic and panel design (Control Panels, Motor Control Panels, Motor Control Centers, Power Distribution) using AutoCAD Electrical and EPLAN 8.
o Network design using Profinet, Profibus, ASI Bus, ControlNet, DeviceNet, Ethernet/IP
o Programmable Logic Controller architecture design
o Writing project documentation (Test plans, Descriptions of Operation)
Position Skills and Qualifications
o Undergraduate or graduate degree in Electrical/Controls/Automation/Robotics Engineering or Technology or equivalent experience
o Fluent in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Powerpoint) and Windows operating systems
o Strong command of the English language, both written and verbal
o Willingness to travel approximately 20% of the time
o Current experience with AutoCAD Electrical and/or Eplan 8
o Experience with conveyor systems (Parcel, Baggage, ASRS, Etc.), large machine design, and/or motor control desired
o Experience with Programmable Logic Controller architecture, hardware and/or software desired
