Max pay rate $18.00 - This is an entry level position.
The Electronics Engineering Technician supports engineering activities such as design, test, validation
and/or checkout modification, and assembly of microprocessor based embedded and electro-mechanical
systems and products, experimental design circuitry or specialized test equipment.
Works from schematics, diagrams, written and verbal descriptions, layouts, test procedures or
defined plans to perform testing, validation and/or checkout and troubleshooting functions.
May perform operational test and fault isolation on systems, product and equipment. May assist in
determining methods or actions to remedy malfunctions. May assist in the design, construction,
test, validation and/or checkout of test equipment. Uses manufacturing, test, development or
diagnostic equipment, including, but not limited to, test programs, digital meters, oscilloscopes,
signal generators, spectrum analyzers and specialized test apparatus.
Assists with and observes routine engineering related studies, processes, designs, inspections and/or quality audits. Provides assistance with gathering, recording and maintaining engineering specific information. Assists with the preparation of routine charts, graphs and diagrams to illustrate various engineering procedures. Provides assistance with routine testing and troubleshooting in a variety of engineering tasks. Assists in assembling routine prototypes. Assists with routine specification development or preparation.
Provide support on typical tasks for engineers and/or engineering development and projects as
project progresses from design phase to installation including: design, build, factory test, field test,
and installation under direct supervision.
May perform some or all of the below duties depending on area of assignment:
Construct, test, and troubleshoot microprocessor based electronics circuitry
Create and understand schematics for microprocessor based systems
Design, construct, and test simple analog and digital circuits
Calls vendors for material or ordering information.
Create and/or append Bill of Materials
Create/submit part number requests to Drafting Department
Design and/or assemble test cabling and wiring harnesses
Modify design drawings using CADD and/or Drafting Standards (using both AutoCAD and Microstation).
Assists with programming test equipment controllers and data collection computers and devices.
Assists in environmental testing, including temperature, humidity and surge as defined by the
system requirements and test plan.

company standards and within established timelines and budgets.
Accuracy and detail of work meet established targets (i.e. minimal rework required).
Learn and apply new concepts to develop and demonstrate technical competence.
Work well independently and as part of a team to achieve team and organizational goals.
Follow ISO/Engineering Standards for drawing creation and control.
Two year technical certification training in electrical engineering or related field or equivalent.
Experience reading electrical schematics.
Experience with analog and digital circuit concepts and troubleshooting
Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word, and CADD packages such as AutoCAD and PADs.
Ability to work a schedule with non-regular hours, as required.
Ability to travel occasionally.
Visual and manual dexterity to perform applicable daily functions.
Ability to sit and maintain concentration for extended periods of time.
Ability to stand for 1 hour intervals on concrete, mental house floor, rail ties, ballast.
Ability to frequently reach 2 feet above shoulders, forward and lateral.
Ability to kneel or squat for 5 to 10 minute intervals.
Ability to occasionally grip, torque, or recline for 5 to 10 minute intervals.
Ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
Ability to work in both the internal and external environment and be subject to temperature changes.
Subject to exposure to physical hazards and equipment where special training and safety considerations are required.
Subject to potential exposure to noise, vibration, moving equipment, and various environmental
conditions such as slippery railroad ties, catwalks, and ballasts.
Experience with CADD (AutoCAD/PADs)
Familiarity with Transit and Rail Industry.
