Active Directory Architect

  1. Prepare for Active Directory (AD): Lend expertise and generate deliverables for the following preparations for AD upgrade:
    1. Investigate, evaluate and report on the various Functionalities and "Impacts” of AD
    2. Design and Plan Deployment for AD Domain/Functional Level upgrades
    3. Design and Plan the migration from FRS to Client-R
    4. Design and Plan the remediation of various other general Enterprise AD maintenance needs.
  2. Design and Plan Deployment on AD Servers: Lend expertise and provide deliverables for the following aspects of an AD OS upgrade:
    1. Create and maintain a plan and schedule of work for this Phase of work and provide progress updates
    2. Develop, Test and Document the upgrade process in a Lab and Staging environment.
    3. Support and enhance automation practices (scripting, etc.) to streamline the build/deployment process.
    4. Assess the production AD environment in areas like Capacity, Connectivity, Firewall, and Performance.
    5. Develop formal and informal testing protocols for any work destined for production.
    6. Work with AD Engineering team members to ensure various Tools and Monitoring are all supported
    7. Develop and Transition a Rollout Plan to Operations with documentation, training.
    8. Provide Hyper-care support during production piloting phase.
    9. Success criteria:
      1. Development process and solution creates minimal adverse impact to the Production application environment.
      2. Readiness for a small Production Pilot implementation during late 2018
  3. Documentation: High standard of documentation that complies with internal templates and standards:
    1. Miscellaneous project documents detailing: Plan and Schedule of Work, Benefits, Requirements, Known Issues, Known Risks, Expected Changes to Current Process, any Required Trainings.
    2. Revisions of internal AD documents: Engineering AD Design, Operations DC Build Doc, Work Instructions, Knowledge base articles.
Required Experience:
• 6+ years of Enterprise Windows Active Directory Architecture, Design, Development, Implementation, Migration and Security Configuration experience for complex, multi-domain global enterprises
• 3+ years of Active Directory and Windows support experience at the "Operations” level.
• 3+ years working in an ITIL environment of formal Change Control processes and Systems Development Lifecycle processes and of producing the requirement documentation and evidence
• 2+ years of Scripting with PowerShell (principally) and VBS (also)
• Ability to generate highly competent and descriptive documentation.
• Recent experience with AD lifecycle upgrades in Enterprise Windows and Non-Windows environments.
• Experience with deploying servers in Azure environments.
• Expert understanding of Active Directory-related protocols (authentication protocols and others)
• Experience with capturing and interpreting network packet traces
• Sound understanding of IT Security principles and practices
• Sound understanding of Active Directory Backup and Recovery processes
• Experience of configuring Windows Auditing (Basic and Advanced Audit settings)
• Sound understanding of AD Attacks (PTH, PTT etc.) and Credential Theft Mitigation in Windows
• IT critical infrastructure background (Name Services, Networks, Firewalls, Servers, Email, Monitoring, Patching)
• Adept at marrying technical solutions to business needs
• Communicates with and influences others effectively, navigates obstacles, timely escalates issues
• Builds mutual trust and effectively manages partner and customer expectations
• Works independently and is effective and influential as part of a global virtual team
• Prioritizes independently and effectively and 'multi-tasks' concurrent requests and initiatives
• Has some flexibility with working hours to accommodate global working across multiple time-zones
