Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • 8+ years' project management experience
  • 4+ years' experience in an engineering leadership role
  • Strong knowledge of CAD/CAM software and drafting standards and procedures
  • Solid understanding of core concepts including mechanics, kinematics, thermodynamics, materials science.
  • Familiarity with 2D and 3D engineering design and manufacturing tool.
  • Creativity and analytical skills
  • Adequate knowledge of Allen Bradley RSLogix 5000, Modicon, Indusoft, AutoCAD Electrical.
  • Ability to communicate technical knowledge in a clear and understandable manner
  • Strong Technical writing skills
Responsibilities
  • Modifications of existing equipment as requested by production, technical service, quality assurance, PSD, or maintenance departments.
  • Perform initial and ongoing design reviews.
  • Develop CAD project drawings and review drawings from outside firms for accuracy.
  • Collaborate with other departments and team members to develop and accurate accounting of all engineering hours required for various types of internal projects
  • Identify process deficiencies and develop solutions to improve those deficiencies.
  • Effectively manages contractors and engineering technicians that are assigned to their department. Support area maintenance technicians and group leaders to maintain and meet department goals for downtime frequency, A-Rank reduction, obsolesces, and non operational time
  • Design, write specifications, purchases, install, and start-up new equipment to meet the plant's Business Plan objectives
  • Evaluate final products' overall performance, reliability and safety
  • Work with the maintenance team to increase the reliability of equipment.
  • Work with production and operation to eliminate waste and improve on equipment availability and enhance the equipment effectiveness.
  • Alter and modify design to meet requirements and to eliminate malfunctions.
  • Solicit observations from operators
  • Perform monthly safety audits in the areas of contractor work areas, lockout/tag out, and Near Miss/Hidden dangers
  • Effectively manage and control spending of the yearly capital and expense budget targets
  • Prepare reports and documentation
  • Engage in lifelong learning and develop new ideas and improvements or methods

• Research and analyze design proposals, specifications, manuals, and other data to evaluate the feasibility, cost, and maintenance requirements of designs or applications. • Specify system components or direct modification of products to ensure conformance with engineering design and performance specifications. • Research, design, evaluate, install, operate, and maintain mechanical products, equipment, systems and processes to meet requirements, applying knowledge of engineering principles. • Write performance requirements for product development or engineering projects. • Strong Project Management experience.

What are the nice-to-have skills?
• Assist drafters in developing the structural design of products, using drafting tools or computer-assisted design/drafting equipment and software. • Conduct research that tests and analyzes the feasibility, design, operation and performance of equipment, components and systems. • Estimate costs and submit bids for engineering, construction, or extraction projects, and prepare contract documents.
