Job Description:
JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for performing the functions of the Employee Health Department as directed by Employee Health RN’s, providers, and Employee Health Leadership through promoting wellbeing and a safe working environment for all personnel in the assigned area within the Geisinger Health System. Performs duties to provide the highest level of patient care and maximize employee satisfaction. Works under the supervision of the Manager of Employee Health. MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: *1. Initiates and maintains an accurate electronic health record for every employee insuring confidentiality. Collects and prepares laboratory specimens and completes associated paperwork (lab requests, container labels etc.) to expedite laboratory studies with maximum accuracy and efficiency. Performs a urine collection to obtain specimens in compliance with the appropriate criteria. *2. Administers immunizations and TST’s consistent with current policies. Administers vaccines under the direction of Employee Health Medical Director, Employee Health Providers, and nursing scope of practice. *3. Participates in performance improvement activities, committees as assigned and maintains clinical competencies. *4. Establishes and maintains interpersonal relationships with patients, visitors, hospital and clinic personnel while assuring employee confidentiality of information both written and electronic. 5. Responsible for maintaining an immediate safe work area and working in a manner that will not jeopardize the health of fellow employees. 6. Provides educational information to employees consistent with the mission and objectives of the Employee Health. 7. Learns new software, maintains data bases and keeps current with Employee Health EMR. 8. Performs other duties as required or assigned for which the employee is qualified to perform. 9. Manages supplies utilized by Employee Health in an efficient manner. *Denotes essential functions. SPECIFIC POSITION DUTIES: COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS: Demonstrated organizational skills and flexibility in scheduling due to possible workload changes. Must be able to perform independently as well a team member. Demonstrated strong communication skills and the ability to be self-directed. Demonstrates effective oral, written and computer communication skills. EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: • Must be BLS certified. • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with a current LPN licensure, or eligible for licensure in the state of Pennsylvania required. • Minimum of 3 – 5 years clinical experience required. One year of an office setting involving clinical/clerical functions preferred.
