Chief of Staff, Financial Sales
Ref No.: 17-18712
Location: Duluth, Georgia
Position Summary:
The Chief of Staff will report to the SVP of Financial Global Sales. This strategic position focuses on continuously improving the way the Financial Sales executive office is run. Being effective in this pivotal role requires a natural ability to build strong, trusting partnerships across the organization and drive progress on key initiatives, cross-functional projects and effective communications on behalf of the SVP. As the SVP "trusted counsel " this role will work closely with the SVP's direct reports to communicate changes in prioritization and decision-making efficiently. This requires a highly resourceful individual who thrives in a fast-moving, complex environment requiring strong emotional intelligence, self-motivation, and comfort with ambiguity in a fast-changing industry.

Key Areas of Responsibility:

1) Preparation and Facilitation of "Critical Path” SVP Meetings

• The SVP's Executive Assistant is responsible for inviting participants and meeting logistics, while the Chief of Staff is accountable that the meeting objectives are realistic, preparation is appropriate, and that the SVP is well prepared.
• This responsibility is more about content and the appropriateness and sufficiency of the intended preparation.
• Focus is to ensure the SVP's time is leveraged most effectively in a meeting context.
• This may mean querying and pushing back on senior executives and assisting in their preparation for interactions with the SVP

2) Coordination and Orchestration of Commitments of the SVP and Direct Reports

• The primary focus is on ensuring alignment among the stakeholders.
• In the event that alignment is absent, sharing this with the SVP and recommending mitigating approaches. As the SVP's proxy, the Chief of Staff will need to build strong partnerships across functions.
• This active, behind-the-scenes role will enable the business to run more efficiently. While this responsibility envisions "going deep” on a relatively limited number of projects, she/he would also need to understand the breadth of the projects within the SVP's purview.
• The SVP and the Chief of Staff would agree in advance on the schedule of projects requiring their involvement. Tact, diplomacy, and persistence are essential qualities in executing this dimension of the role.
• Provide insightful, data-driven recommendations to the SVP and leadership team.

3) Independent Leadership of SVP-Initiated Projects

• While the vast majority of SVP-initiated projects will be led by executive team members and their staffs, some confidential or time-sensitive issues will need to reside within the office of the SVP and be led by the Chief of Staff and the SVP.

4) Support Communications with the SVP

• The Chief of Staff will need to be closely aligned with the SVP and his Executive Communications partner in order to maintain a consistent message.
• They will help facilitate decisions that the executive staff needs input on from the SVP.
• She/he will support the needs of the executive staff in raising critical issues with the SVP and receiving needed responses, guidance and decisions.
• The Chief of Staff will accompany and/or participate as a conduit to the SVP on selected meetings as appropriate.

5) Business Operations Leadership

• Includes the running and improving the business cadence (strategic planning, budgeting, business reviews), setting and improving processes, monitoring execution and driving accountability and visibility of progress against goals and objectives.
• Working closely with business units, core functions and teams to provide a consistent strategic narrative across initiatives.
• Proactively identify gaps and issues across the organization and recommend solutions/programs to address them.
• Drive the leadership team to clear, efficient and accountable decision-making.
• Be a sounding board to the leadership team and ensure strategy; goals and priorities are communicated effectively and cascaded to the broader organization.
