Endoscopy procedures

2. Equipment utilized in the unit/dept. (Is there computerized charting, medication systems, etc.)
Computerized charting- Quadramed / Medication system- Pyxis

3. Required skills and minimum years of experience.
RN, with one year of endoscopy experience required
Critical background preferred
Moderate sedation experience required

4. Specific licensures and certifications/registrations required. (ARRT, CRT, BLS, ACLS, etc)
CPR Certified and NYS RN licensed
ACLS

5. Shift or schedule requirements. (Will the employee ever work alone? Is call required? If so, how often? Are weekends required?)
40 hours/week with 8 hour shifts – Day Shift (7a – 3:30p)
No holidays or weekends. No on call.

6. Floating to other units/departments. (If so, to which units/departments?)
No - Work between 2 hospitals/facilities

7. Bed size/number of rooms for this unit/dept.
4 procedure rooms + 6 admit/recovery-discharge rooms

8. Nurse to patient ratio of this unit. (nursing only)
Varies according to assignment, procedure room would be 1:1, admit/discharge 2:1

9. Dress Code:
Scrubs (No specific color)

10. Tell us about the unit/department specific training and orientation program.
1 day general hospital training, preceptor on the unit for additional 1 day.

Team player, multi-task and positive personality. Good patient care and customer service orientation, basic computer skills.
MAIN FUNCTION:
The RN is a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility and accountability for a group of patients for a designated timeframe and provides care to these patients via therapeutic use of self, the nursing process, the environment/instrumentation, and other health care team members. The RN is expected to perform their duties according to established standards of care and the core values established by the Division of Nursing. Reports to assigned Unit Director.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Nursing Process Assessment
**1. Performs assessment/data collection in an ongoing and systematic manner, focusing on physiologic, psychological and cognitive status of patients.
Diagnosis
**2. Analyzes assessment data to determine appropriate nursing diagnoses.

**3. Identifies appropriate expected outcomes individualized to the patient.

**4. Formulates a goal directed plan of care, which is prioritized and based on determined nursing diagnosis and patient outcomes.

DUCATION:
Current NYS nursing licensure, limited permit or eligible. Excellent communication skills and writing ability.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Appreciable physical effort required; lifting, pulling, pushing, and moving patients of various size, capabilities and abilities. Some lifting, reaching, and stooping. Required to be on feet much of the time.
