Staff Accountant II

Perform accounting, reporting and financial analysis as assigned for the enterprise. This role is responsible for more difficult transactions requiring more experience and judgment. Maintain proper accounting and financial control through reconcilations and analytical analysis related to assigned functional areas. Actively participate and ensure timely and accurate financial statement reporting for Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Statutory Accounting Principles (SAP), tax and other regulatory reporting. Support accounting-based research and analytical projects. Support internal and external audits of Healthcare Washington. Develop and maintain working relationships with operational departments and external vendors. Supports budget process. If assigned to work on federal contracts, this role may be required to undergo and pass a security background clearance per federal government regulations.

Bachelor's Degree Accounting or related field or equivalent experience

Knowledge/Skills
Minimum Knowledge/Skills Requirements
Intermediate Demonstrated working knowledge of GAAP. Working knowledge of accounting cycle and demonstrated ability to compile a full set of financial statements. Demonstrated application of accounting standards to business transactions. Knowledgeable of financial transaction flow within operational and financial systems. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications. Thinks independently, acts decisively and self directed. Excellent verbal, written and presentation communication skills. Proven analytical ability, excellent customer service and organizational skills. Ability to identify and solve problems.

Preferred Knowledge/Skills

Intermediate All minimum requirments plus: Demonstrated working knowledge of the following: accounting and financial reporting; GAAP and SAP; Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and Enterprise Resouces Planning (ERP) systems. Proven ability to identify and solve more difficult problems

2 years Accounting and financial reporting experience

Preferred Experience

4 years Accounting and financial reporting experience in a large healthcare or insurance industry setting
