Payroll Benefits Specialist
Summary/Objective
Responsible for ensuring the timely and accurate delivery and accounting of US benefits, salaries, wages, commission and incentive payments.
Have a strong working knowledge of US benefits, US payroll, legislation and statutory requirements.
Conduct regular quality audits to ensure that the company is compliant with internal policies and external legislation and regulations as it relates to US benefits and payroll.
Coordinates, completes and reviews a broad range of complex and specialized operational duties within HR Operations, ensuring timely completion and compliance with internal standards and external regulations. 
Acts as a subject matter expert and support for resolution.
Provide customer service, investigates and resolves issues as well as provides analytical and technical support in the delivery of the benefit programs and payroll.
Handle check printing and maintain appropriate logs

Mandatory Technical Skills:
Minimum of five years of US benefits and payroll knowledge
Strong working knowledge of applicable rules and regulations surrounding payroll operations, applicable systems (SAP) knowledge and all pertinent federal and state regulations, filing and compliance requirements, both adopted and pending, affecting  US payroll and employee benefits programs, including ERISA, COBRA, FMLA, ADA, Section 125, workers' compensation, Medicare, OBRA, and Social Security and DOL requirements
Exceptional analytical abilities, problem solving, with attention to detail and discipline to follow instructions closely
Review and validate data on US benefits and payroll including files, audits, requests including special items (e.g. equity exercises/vesting, manual checks)
Perform data analysis against standard operating procedures to ensure compliance
Conduct regular audits pertaining to employee data to ensure integrity between the organization's HRIS and third party vendor systems.
Highlight defects and research areas where process gaps are occurring
Partner with the offshore team in correcting system data and documenting resolutions within standard operating procedures
Report findings and improvements on a weekly basis
Ensure compliance with applicable government regulations as it relates to benefits and payroll
Ensure timeliness and accuracy of required reporting
Coordinate daily benefits processing. Handle enrolments, COBRA, terminations, changes, beneficiaries, disability, rollovers, distributions, loans, hardships and compliance testing
Oversee maintenance of employee benefits files, maintain group benefits database and update employee payroll records.
Audit the accuracy and performance of functions performed by offshore benefits staff.
Prepare, collect and organize data for assessments.
 
Essential Functions:
Primary contact for Payroll and Benefit operational issues, troubleshoot and personally resolve complex customer issues where judgment is required.
