Distribution/Vault Design Engineer

  • Build electrical power distribution systems in overhead and underground facilities.
  • Responsible for design development, equipment layouts, construction drawings and bill of materials for large projects involving the installation of new utility infrastructure and modifications to existing utility infrastructure on the client's distribution system.
  • Determine physical layout of equipment in vaults, based on building requirements, general plan drawings, load distribution riser and operating diagram schematic in compliance with the client's engineering practices and standards.
  • Provide in-progress design coordination with architects, engineers, contractors, and the client's internal and external customers.
  • Determine electrical equipment needs and quantities for development of new power systems.
  • Identify and notify safety concerns to management promptly.
  • Assist with technical consultation, plan developments and recommendations for customer and company systems and processes; (e.g. Verify and validate studies, blueprints and designs against accepted engineering principles and practices).
  • Provide engineering support to operations and maintenances of power distribution systems.
  • Propose cost reduction initiatives while maintaining high efficiency of electrical transmission and distribution systems.
  • Work with Manager in planning and executing assigned electrical distribution projects within deadlines and budgets.
  • Assist in constriction specifications, material selection, and foundation design activities.
  • Maintain documentations of all engineering tasks performed for future reference purposes.
  • Ability to multi task and adapt to changing demands.
  • Ability to coordinate activities with multiple internal and external parties.

Preference may be given to candidates with experience in one or more of the following:
  • Distribution Engineering & Planning
  • Equipment Engineering
  • Substation Design
  • Sub transmission and Industrial Power Engineering & Planning
  • Relay Engineering (protective relaying and control)
  • Transmission Engineering & Planning
  • Smart Grid

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) & 3-plus years of experience in the given engineering discipline, including substantive work-lead or involvement in the management of engineering-related projects or initiatives.
  • Technical experience related to electrical power distribution and construction.
  • Work in compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Construction site coordination experience.
