Linux System Administrator / Server Engineer

 Overview: The Server Engineer provides support to private cloud environments and technologies for the operations. Work closely with agile development and application teams for private cloud platform support. Collaborate with architects, engineering, managers, application and infrastructure teams to plan and coordinate changes. Supports ongoing development and testing activities, identifying potential area of improvements, implementing such changes and maintaining system configurations, all while continually performing recurring patch management to maintain systems within client defined guidelines.

  • 3+ years' experience leading the interface architecture of complex delivery efforts
  • 3+ years' experience Network engineering experience, with a thorough knowledge of networking essentials
  • 2+ years of Development and DevOps Background
  • 2+ years of Large Scale Network Design
  • 2+ years of knowledge of and experience with major Internet routing protocols, network hardware and packet forwarding architectures
  • 3+ years of proven ability to assume responsibility for more than one major initiative and prioritize work based on program schedules and deadlines
Preferred
  • Experience with Systems: Windows, Cisco Systems, UNIX, Linux
  • Experience with Networking: Switches, Routers, Hubs, Servers, Cables, Racks, Firewalls, LAN, WAN, TCP/IP, DNS
  • Strong knowledge of database development and utilities (TOAD/SQL PLUS)
  • Certifications: MCSE, CCNA, CCNP, CCIE, CNE
 
LCAT Requirements:
Possesses and applies a comprehensive knowledge across key tasks and high impact assignments. Plans and leads major technology assignments. Evaluates performance results and recommends major changes affecting short-term project growth and success. Functions as a technical expert across multiple project assignments. May supervise others.  5+ years professional work history in applicable roles.
 
Responsibilities:
  • Manage virtual servers running Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.2, Windows 2012, and virtual desktops running Windows 10 across multiple environments.
  • Configure services and provide remote/onsite technical support for multiple platforms
  • Manage user accounts and permissions
  • Monitor system performance and troubleshoot failed services
  • Maintain configuration baseline of each environment
  • Analyze, test and deploy Operating System patches across all environments
  • Support server security and scans.
  • Develop scripts to automate services as needed
 
Education Level: Bachelor's Degree
