The Optical Transport Engineer will be a subject matter expert for architecting, implementing,
testing, and troubleshooting enterprise optical networks in support of common business
applications and objectives.  The position requires the ability to collaborate with team members
in the support of network equipment, circuits and management systems while working with
network operations teams to improve system/circuit availability and network management
•     Responsible for planning and implementation of optical transport installations; circuit creation, systems documentation, upgrades, maintaining network hardware and network operating systems for enterprise optical transport equipment and systems.
•     Perform complex installation, maintenance, service/troubleshooting (problem analysis) of all transport equipment (SONET, Digital, DWDM) including but not limited to fiber optic and MUX/DEMUX equipment.
•     Develop and follow detailed methods and procedures as part of the optical network system implementation and integration process.
•     Plan and exercise network upgrades in a live operational environment.
•      Create and manage internal engineering documentation.
•     Provision optical backbone circuits using CPO/CTC and configure ancillary equipment for delivery of sub-rate circuits (e.g. RICi-16/EGATE-100, ASR1002 router port configurations including T3/T1 SIP/SPA, DNX-11/88 port configurations, etc.)
•     Ensure circuits are provisioned IAW circuit design documentation and resolve discrepancies before circuits are released to the customer.
•     Interface directly with internal and external customers and provide technical assistance with service activation and circuit verification testing.
•     Provides Operations support in trouble resolution of the network infrastructure and performs on-call duties and off-hours support when needed.
•     Shift and workday flexibility is required.
•     BSEE, BSCE or BSCS with communications focus and a minimum of 10+ year's relevant optical networking experience. Minimum of five (5) total years of experience in the architecture/design, development, and implementation of large scale Optical Network architectures.
•     Background and experience with CWDM and DWDM Network Transport hardware including; Cisco ONS-15454/ONS-15310, Company systems, CTC/CPO network management tools, Infinera systems and Ciena systems equipment.
•     Possess strong technical understanding of Gig-E/Fast Ethernet, DS1/T1, DS3, VT1.5, VTV, STS1, STSV, OC3-OC192, WAN PHY and LAN PHY circuit types and should be familiar with standard processes and procedures associated with provisioning and acceptance testing of these circuit types.
•     Must have proven ability to architect, implement and support optical network infrastructure solutions.
•     Experience implementing and troubleshooting WAN topologies using T-Carrier and Optical Carrier circuits. 
•     Excellent customer skills for direct interaction with internal and external teams.
•     Technical project management skills including developing implementation plans and making technical decisions during implementation periods.
•     Demonstrated technical skills in telecommunication networks with focus in fiber optic communications transport technologies and applications.
•     Experienced in optical test equipment use, optical test applications and optical measurement principles.
Preferred Additional Skills:
•     Industry and vendor specific certifications and/or training for Cisco ONS-15310/15454 platforms.
•     CCNA/CCNP, Cisco Certified Architect (CCAr), certifications preferred.
•     Experience in Change Management scheduling/coordination processes and able to develop detailed Methods of Procedure (MOP).
•     Experienced or Certified in Fiber Optics Characterization Testing
•     Technical project management skills including developing implementation plans and making technical decisions during implementation periods.
Experience in design and deployment of both dispersion compensated and coherent networks.
