Summary:
• For the ETL Mechanical (Engineering Tech A) role, we will provide extensive training regardless of the level of experience due to our unique line of work. However, we are looking for someone who is generally knowledgeable but has the capacity and conscientiousness to learn and execute our processes correctly.
• They need to be able to calculate, but it is more important to know what to do with the information. They need to have an understanding around what steps to take and what numerical values mean.

Here is some information on how math is used in the ETL Mechanical (Engineering Tech A) role:
• The lab performs testing of hardware in various environmental conditions. The employee will need to read numbers off of a machine or computer and make calculations to reach a decision.
• The machines are sensitive and the hardware is delicate, so accuracy is paramount.
• Different machines have different requirements (what the numbers should look like).
• For example, they will need to understand the value of very small numbers (negative exponents).
• Overall, they need to understand the relationships between numbers, interpret them, understand higher versus lower, make calculations and know what seems right.

Here is what we are looking for Yoh to do during screening:
• Present the written job description to candidates and ask them to read it for themselves.
• Let them know that they will need to be able to - Interpret numerical readings and accurately calculate values using basic math skills such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, order of operations, percentages, averages, and scientific notation. They can use a calculator on the job, but will need to be able to do this without errors or assistance. We want to make sure they feel comfortable doing this stuff because it is critical for this position. If they are unable to do this work from day one, you can be dismissed.
• Gauge the candidate's comfort with this requirement.
