Software Development Engineering Job Description
Roles, Responsibilities, and Expectations
The primary responsibilities of the software development engineer are, as an individual and team participant, to
1. Perform design, maintenance, enhancement, testing, and implementation per product requirements and associated use cases/scenarios
2. Design and develop secure solutions
3. Complete estimates for software modules under development, and estimates own work
4. Complete design, implementation, unit test, code review and static code analysis activities
5. Perform presentations of technical findings and developments
6. Participate in risk management (project, technical, and hazard) activities
Technical Requirements
The following list presents the primary technical education, skills, or recent graduate classroom programming experience.
1. Object - Oriented Design and Development
2. Java and Thrift experience a must
3. Developing software for embedded systems a plus
4. Mobile application development with Android a plus

General Requirements
1. Possess the ability to apply the fundamentals of programming languages to solve moderately complex engineering problems
2. Possess the ability to apply fundamental data structures and abstractions to solve moderately complex engineering problems
3. A General understanding of Operating Systems, Networks and Databases
4. Developing software solutions within an IDE (i.e. Microsoft Visual Studio, intellij, Eclipse)
5. Ability to design and implement embedded OS platforms (Platform builder, target designer)
6. Possesses strong writing, presentation, and general communication skills
7. Communicate task status to the test team lead and manager
8. Perform presentations of technical findings and developments
9. Interact with other test and development personnel on a project
10. Manage own priorities, with support from the Technical Leads
11. Ability to peer-review software requirements, design documents and code
12. Ability to work effectively both alone and as part of a team
13. Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
