The Prototyping Team (2 prototypers, 1 engineer, 1 tech artist) delivers Unity libraries that dozens of internal prototypers use to create demonstrations and interface explorations for product development.
  • In this role, the person will get to help prototypers and designers create exciting interactive prototypes that simulate system software, standalone experiences, and hardware capabilities.
  • Be involved with dozens of Unity prototypers creating the most exciting simulations and explorations of VR and AR experiences.
  • Gain experience with prototype processes and techniques, in addition to understanding the needs of designers transitioning to do Unity prototyping.
  • This person might transition into creating libraries themselves.
  • This person may otherwise be doing teaching to beginners or intermediate programmers, or may be doing developer outreach and documentation for the public.
Acting as an internal Unity tools evangelist for our prototyping tools, used by prototypers in AR & VR. Creating Internal Unity Prototyping Tools Samples, Documentation, Videos or other learning materials. The main function of a Prototyper is to research, design, and create prototypes in required area including augmented and virtual reality. A typical prototyper is responsible for building and enhancing prototyping platforms in partnership with other prototypers and technical teams.

  • Research, design, and create interactive prototypes
  • Collaborate with other technical teams to build and enhance prototyping platforms
  • Set up and maintain prototypes and present to various audiences
  • Communicate analysis them to your cross-functional partners
  • Give and solicit real-time feedback from others in order to approve the quality of the product
  • Partner effectively with PMs, engineers, user researchers, content strategists & QA, overseeing the implementation of the user experience from product conception to launch - as well as post-launch design support
  • Contribute to strategic decisions, working with the Design, Product and Executive teams
  • Create product-ready assets for internal rapid testing and external release
  • Advocate for product design throughout Facebook
  • Experience with real-time 3D development
  • Strong programming ability in one or more languages (C#, C/C++, Python, Java)
  • Experience with AR/VR and game development
  • Creativity, verbal and written communication skills and problem solving ability are required.
  • Strong ability to visualize in 3D and understand aesthetic aspects of design.
  • Previous experience using the computer to create layouts and generate new images.
  • Expert problem solving and conflict resolution skills

Top must-have HARD skills:
  • 4+ years of experience with a bachelor's degree in relevant field or equivalent work experience required
  • Unity/3D programming skills. Not necessarily an expert in development, but can create Unity projects that run on headsets.
  • Ability to create written and video documentation for software libraries.
  • Ability to tutor and communicate 3D programming & workflow concepts.
Good to have skills:
  1. Experience doing developer relations/outreach/documentation for public consumption (for people with a variety of skillsets from beginner to intermediate).
