Contracts Specialist - FRL Academic Relations

Facebook Reality Labs is looking for a Contracts Specialist with a well-rounded background in academic contracting and project management. We are seeking a self-directed individual who works well in a team, but can also manage tasks independently and is self-motivated. They should also be successful in dealing with ambiguity and be able to leverage their experience and intuition to identify, assess and solve problems, quickly and frequently. This candidate will also be responsible for fostering productive relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners through exceptional communication and efficient, creative problem-solving, ensuring a seamless contracting experience.


· Triage incoming requests, making assignments and adding new contracts to our internal tracking system

· Manage internal team contracts database and maintain thorough records of relevant transaction details

· Track, record, and report on the full life-cycle of academic contracts

· Collect project requirements and offer guidance to internal research teams in the planning stages of a new engagement

· Light drafting of academic contracts, including amendments, statements of work, extensions, licenses, and data-sharing agreements

· Consistent and accurate entry of written and electronic data into various client systems

· Provide accurate and timely updates regarding contract or payment status

· Maintain awareness of company policies and business priorities

· Effective and timely communication with internal stakeholders and external partners

· Management of internal wiki pages ensuring information is relevant and up-to-date

· Recognize and raise concerns to Legal, including issue-spotting, proposing solutions that align with the business goals, and communicating effectively with Legal to advance agreements

· Cross-train in procurement tasks and internal review processes to ensure seamless coverage during team member outages

· Assist with employee onboarding tasks as needed


· 2+ years of contract portfolio management and/or project management

· Exceptional written communication and editorial skills

· Experience with academic contracting (in academia or industry): sponsored research agreements, IP licenses, non-disclosure agreements, facility use agreements

· Experience working in an extremely fast-paced environment with the ability to prioritize multiple assignments simultaneously

· Comfortable working cross-functionally with various departments or workstreams

· Highly organized and responsive, with a keen attention to detail

· Able to work independently and be self-motivated to uncover issues and develop solutions

· Advanced computer skills, specifically with Microsoft Office suite and Google Workspace, Asana and other collaborative tools
